Kim Raver welcomes a second son, Leo Kipling

24 actress Kim Raver, 38, and her husband, French filmmaker ManuBoyer, welcomed their second son today.  The little guy, who was born in NYC — where Kim is shooting her new series Lipstick Jungle — was named Leo Kipling.  He weighed in at 8 lbs, 12 oz, and joins big brother, Luke West, 5. No further birth details were given.

Her publicist told People,

Kim and baby Leo are happy and healthy. The Boyer family is thrilled with their newaddition. [Luke had been] anxiously beenawaiting the arrival of his new sibling.

The couple had not found out the sex of the baby previous to the delivery.

We chose names that both started with C for our 2 sons but it wasn’t on purpose.
In fact I avoided names with the same letter as my first son’s name because I don’t like sibling names that are matchy. I eventually caved because the only 2 names we could both agree on started with a C.
It can get annoying having to explain all the time that we didn’t since people always ask.

i always wanted to name my kids with the same first letter. but i didn’t. i babysat for a family of 6 kids when i was growing up, and all kids had the initials jmm.

My ex is one of 4 boys, and all of their initials are JMP. His nephew is carrying on the tradition, as well.

I didn’t but everyone thinks I did! My daughters names start with a C and an S so everyone thinks they both start with an S when they hear them and I get asked all the time. I actually was trying to avoid starting with the same letter because we plan to have a few kids and I didn’t want anyone to be the ‘odd one out’ since most of the names I like are pretty varied.

I sure did. Ezra Charles and Eli Curtis…. My dad is Charles and my father in law is Curtis, and after I knew I would name my first Ezra, I gave him Charles as a middle name because my dad had no sons. Then to make the other side happy, I used Curtis and loved the name Eli.

Mine and my sister’s names both start with a ‘C’- Crystal and Chelcee. Both of my brother’s names start with a ‘J’ – Jonas & Joshua.

I don’t have any kids yet, but the names we have picked out start with a ‘J’ for the boy (Jordan – would have been my name if I was a boy — lol carrying on the J’s!!) and a ‘R’ for the girl (Robyn – that is the *only* girls name we could agree on).

All 3 of my kid’s names start with “B”…Brett, Brady, and Bella. My 2 boys actually have the same initials for all 3 of their names, but that I didn’t do on purpose!! I call them all my “beehive!!” And, all 3 of their middle names are named after someone in the family.

My daughters names’ start with the same first initials, but I didn’t do it purposely. When I named my first daughter, I wasn’t thinking of other “S” names, but when my second daughter came along, that’s what we liked and so they now both have “S” names. And my sister has a daughter and also (not on purpose) gave her daughter an “S” name, so my dad gets very tongue tied around his granddaughters.

I don’t like the sound of matchy names either, but if my hubby and me agree on names that start with the same letter, it still would be fine as we’d both like to have names that will be fit for our babies. Some parents just want to have a good name that will seem perfect for their little ones, however other parents IMO do this to keep a kind of tradition that probably runs down the family. My neighbor down the street have three kids and and her kids’ first names all start with K because her nieces and nephews had “K” names and she liked names that began with K anyway, so she wanted to keep the tradition. The Duggars are another example who keep this tradition as they named all their kids starting with the letter J, and I’m sure if they have more kids in the future, they’ll name their future children with “J” names. So basically to sum it up, some parents name their kids beginning with the same letter, and others do not for other reasons.

my husband and his brothers and sisters all have the same initials and i have the same initials as my siblings. When naming my three children we chose the initals MITJ (after my husband)for our girls and AMHJ (after me) for our son. Matilda Isabella Talula Jacobs, Mackenzie Indiana Taylor Jacobs and Alexander Mitchell Henry Jacobs.

One of my cousins did that, called his kids Taylor, Travis, Trent and Tate, because it’s a tradition in his wife’s family. Her name’s Holly, she has 4 sisters and all of them have names starting with an H.
I’m not too fond of siblings with names starting with the same letter, even in twins, but I guess it’s up to every parent.

I dont have kids. But i have cousins April, Amber and Alice.

And i have a cousin Michelle, and an aunt Michelle.

My grandmother calls anyone at least 4 names, ranging from adults to pets before she gets the right name. Ive learned to answer to anything if shes anywhere near me.

me and my sister are both c’s Caroline and Clair. My two female cousins are c’s too. Catherine and Christine. My cousins child is Cara. My family assure me this wasn’t planned they were just names that the parents liked. I just found out my cousin is pregnant though and wonder if she will go along with the ‘c’ traditon if she has a girl. All the boys have different initials.

Everone in my family has a “K” name. Both my first and middle name begin with that letter. My mother claims she didn’t do it on purpose, but I have my doubts…

My parents named their 3 children with the same letter, J. I don’t know if this was on purpose, but my sister and I both have names that start with the same sound, my brother’s name can be shortened so that it sounds like my name, and I have an aunt who’s name sounds like mine. Talk about confusion, my grandfather was constantly calling me by my aunt’s name growing up. Even to this day my grandmother confuses names.
Don’t do it to your children, it is too much confusion.

My boyfriend and his brother are pretty much the opposite. His brother is John Scott and my boyfriend was nearly James Steven but their mum thought it would be too confusing with post and things if they had the same initials so he is Steven James.

Oh, let me tell you a tale. My husband comes from a HUGE Catholic family and the did the name-letter thing on both sides.

His mother’s side has 11 kids that all start with “C” or “D”.

The other side has 9 kids that all start with “D” or “B”.

It took me a LOOOONG time to learn all those new aunts and uncles. Then in my husband’s immediate family of 5, everyone’s name starts with a “D” and their last name starts with a “D”. My husband is the only one with the initials DDD (making him 3-D). It’s a lot of D. d. d. in one family.

Needless to say, our kids will NOT have letter-matching names, and even if I LOVE a “D” name, they will not be getting it.

Congrats to them! We have an Emma and I love the name Ethan if we ever have a boy. My DH is vetoing the name at the moment because of this! I also loved the name Hayden and he vetoed it because of our H last name. I don’t intentionally go out looking for matchy names but I do like it.

I hate, hate, hate what I call “matchy” names (for me, not for anyone else), and vowed that I would never do that to my kids. Ironically, I’m pregnant with #2 right now, and the only name that my husband and I LOVE for a girl (we don’t know the sex) starts with the same first two letters as my son. So now we’re debating whether we throw out the name we love just because it’s a little too coordinated, or if we just suck it up, name the kid what we love and deal with any snickers that come our way. (Or this could be moot, and we could have another boy! Our favorite name for a second boy is very different.)

It just seems so inconvenient to have the same initials in one household. Sorting the mail for example will get confusing.

I didnt give my kids the same inital, but all their middle names rhyme, Cody Jay is named after his Grandfather, Kaden Faye is named after my Grandmother.. So by the time Bailey Shay came along I had to give her a rhyming name!!! I didnt want my youngest to feel left out!!

My brother and I our both “J” initials but I don’t think it was done on purpose. My brother was named after my father and my name sort of just popped out when I was born. Our names flow together though.

My other cousin’s names both begin with “K”. Names that flow sound nice, like Leo and Luke. Right now I have two girl names that I like that begin with “E” and I have two boy names that I like that begin with “R” so I think I may have kids w/ the same letters myself!

I unintentionally gave my first 2 children B names, Ben and Briana. We were presured to give our third child a B name. I did like Bailey for a girl, but thankfully we had a boy, and named him William, a family name. If we were to have another child and it was a girl, we probably wouldn’t use Bailey so Will doesn’t feel left out.

My daughters are Amanda, Alexa (who we call Ally), and Jenna. If we have another girl I like a lot of names that end with A, so we will probably keep the tradition going.

My oldest brother Michael Gianni, has a son Michael Gianni Jr., his wife was Marisa Diana, and their other son is Matthew David, so they are MGL, MDL, MGL, MDL.

My other brother was James Raymond, his wife was Jaime Ruth, they have a daughter Claudia Ruth and a son Bryce Raymond.

Yup.

My sons’ names are Jakob Florian and Jonas Frederik.

Together with our surname their initials are JFK, which my hubby (we are from Germany, btw) found funny.

Handing over clothes (they are only 19 months apart) was made easier by the same initials, as for kindergarten etc we had to mark their clothes with their initials.

A third child (boy) would be called Jonathan Finn *grins*

My boys both have names that start with J, but the oldest on is Jordan Scott and the younger one is Tristan Jacob. We didn’t purposely do that.
Our boys have a Hebrew and English/Welsh names
