Kid Rock worried brawl with Tommy Lee will affect their children

10/06/2007 at 01:08 PM ET

During a Larry King Live appearance, musician Kid Rock expressed concern his brawl with drummer Tommy Lee at the MTV Video Music Awards last September might affect their children. Kid Rock’s son, Robert James Ritchie Jr, 14, and Tommy Lee’s two sons, Brandon Thomas Lee, 11, and Dylan Jagger Lee, 9, became step-siblings when Kid Rock married Tommy’s ex-wife, Pamela Anderson. Pamela and Kid Rock divorced a short time later, but the children maintained their step-sibling relationship.

Although Kid Rock stressed the fight with Tommy was unavoidable due to long-simmering tensions, he regrets the fight could cause problems for their children.

You’ve got to remember, too, there’s kids involved here, I know after the fact that Tommy wanted go apologize to MTV and everybody, and not to disrespect them at all, but the only thing I was thinking about was my son and his two kids, and how does this affect them?

[My son] has to go to school. He’s the one that’s got to deal with these antics. Let’s face it, high school kids can be a little unforgiving.

Neither Kid Rock nor Tommy offered an explanation for their fight at the VMAs, but both emphasized it had nothing to do with Pamela.

He wasn’t thinking of his kids or Pam and Tommy’s kids that night or now talking about Pam’s miscarriage.

At least he admitted his part in the brawl. That’s true about the kids will have to deal with it with all their peers wondering why it happened..

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
