No acting in Violet Affleck's future according to mom Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner, 35, and her husband, Ben Affleck, may make their living in front of the cameras, but that doesn’t mean that they want the same for their 22-month-old daughter Violet Anne. If Violet should show any interest in acting, Jennifer reveals how she would handle it.

We would just kibosh it.

In Jennifer’s new film The Kingdom she was lucky enough to bring Violet on the set while filming and it made all the difference.

It brought so much joy to the job. I would [go] back and forth, from playing with her and takingcare of her to running back to work.

Speaking of The Kingdom, Jennifer attended the London premiere of the film but one thing was missing — her husband. The Golden Globe winning actress revealed her husband’s location — he was with his other love.

He’s babysitting. I can’t wait to have him as my dateagain, but right now we’re just kind of passing in shifts.

I don’t agree with Jennifer. I think she should let her daughter follow whatever dreams she may have.

i love the way Jennifer Garner think and the way she love and handle her prety daughter

That’s nice that she chooses that career but won’t let her daughter choose the same. I guess you just guide them to do other things, most girls want to be their mom’s at certain points in their lives though.

squash the kid’s dreams? nice…..i can understand why celebs wouldn’t want their children to follow in acting/entertainment industry footsteps, but as long as u teach them how to handle it, it shouldn’t be a big deal, right????i mean a lot of adult celebs parents prob would’ve said similiar when their kids were babies, but they seem to have changed their tunes now…..

I really like Jennifer (and Violet too!) but it really bugs me when people refer to fathers as babysitters. Fathers aren’t babysitting, they’re fathering or parenting.

I totally agree Colleen!

I understand when Jen says that she doesn’t want Vi to be on this industry! It’s totally crazy! It’s not just about guiding, saying what is right or wrong, or raising Violet well.. It’s like she’s saying “hey, I know how bad this is and I don’t want this to my child”.
Let’s face it: Hollywood eats you alive! Women have to be look like in their 20 when they are 40, you have to be thin a week after having a baby, your clothes must match all the time, every little mistake you make becomes HUGE, EVERYBODY is looking at you, analysing you, judging you.

Yes but she is going to be saying, why is it ok for you to do it Mommy and have us sacrifice our privacy for what you do but yet it’s not ok for me? I understand the reasons why but to make those choices for yourself but say no for your children is crazy. As a parent how do you justify that is ok. I agree about the babysitting too, when do you ever hear a Mom say she is babysitting? You don’t because she isn’t.

I agree 100%, Colleen. I don’t think Jen meant to minimalize Ben’s paternal role, but saying he’s “baby-sitting” makes him sound like a twelve-year-old with a first job instead of a father.
And I understand why she wouldn’t want to subject Violet to acting and the entertainment industry due to the generally unhealthy environment it usually is, but let’s face it-Hollywood has been VERY good to her and Ben. It has made both of them household names, won them awards, and given them more money than most can dream of. Celebs swearing they won’t let their kids follow in their footsteps is dangerously close to biting the hand that feeds you.

The minute I read her comments, i thought “oh man…..”. I couldn’t disagree w/ her more. Isn’t she happy? Would she be married to the man of her dreams, doing what she loves, AND able to bring their precious to work w/ her….? I don’t get her comment AT ALL! This one disappointed me. And the comment about the “babysitting” burned me too. Oh Jen…..
