Kerry Katona admits baby keeps her sober

Former Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona discussed her pregnancy, claiming it’s her motivation to stay away from drugs and alcohol. The 27-year-old singer is almost two months pregnant with her fourth child, and though she struggled with addiction in the past, she claimed the pregnancy is good for her recovery.

I have never and would never expose my children to drugs.

Having a baby will help my recovery. It gives me reason to stay away from drugs and booze.

Kerry and husband Mark Croft had their first child, Heidi Elizabeth, 7 months ago. She also has two daughters, Molly Marie, 6, and Lilly-Sue, 4, from her first marriage to Brian McFadden, of Irish boy band Westlife.

Not to sound overly critical, but her other kids should have been motivation enough for her to not give into such an addictive pattern! But that’s just me…

Considering she has 3 other children, one of whom is only 7 or 8 months that should have been enough. She admitted to relapses during her last pregnancy in 2006/2007 and so far none of her children have kept her “sober” or off drugs. It’s sad. There are these wonderful parents like Charlotte and Gavin doing everything for their baby…
I really hope Kerry get’s help once and for all for all her children’s sake.

I hope she has a back-up plan, she can’t be pregnant constantly for the next 50 or so years! I really hope Kerry gets herself sorted for those lovely little girls’ sakes. Slightly off topic, but has anyone noticed how freakishly like her father Heidi looks? Seriously, she’s his double!

- emzi on

Yeah Emzi, Heidi is the spitting image of Mark, I can’t get over how alike they are! It would be nice for Kerry to have a boy this time, her and Mark have 4 girls between them. He has a daughter from a previous relationship.

Kerry has had an awful life so far, such a tough childhood, so it’s good to see her so happy.

It’s when she makes those comments that it just sums her up.
She’s made remarks before that have beggard belief. The girl makes me want to spit feathers. How the hell OK! still give her a column I do not know!!!!

She comes off as being a little rough around the edges…

She reminds me so much of a parent of one of my students. This lady is a drinker and drug addict (off and on) and yet keeps popping out babies. Then she wonders why her two children are doing so poorly in school with ADD and learning/behavioral issues.

What has Kerry Katona done besides being in a has-been band? I don’t understand why some of these people are considered celebrities.

Being pregnant with a child shouldn’t be your motivation for staying off drugs, etc. for that period of time. To me it’s just as important to be a responsible parent afterward and bringing your best to your children. It’s not their job to keep you clean and sober. Maybe do that before you get pregnant again. Whether you want to believe it or not children mimic your actions and sometimes your behavior. What’s the legacy she’s leaving?

- Loralee on

Her statement and behavious are shocking. Using kids to keep your sober is ridiculous.

so why do Britney’s kids get taken away but not hers?

- polina on

drugs and booze… she’s still smoking though. like always…

- meghan on

I’m sorry, but why are her current 3 kids not enough of a motivation to stay sober?

I can see her going the same way as Britney. Living in the UK, we hear a lot about Kerry and what she does, and if even half of it is true it’s shocking, and very sad for her and her kids.

I posted a response to this thread last night and I guess it didn’t make the cut.

Oh I guess I forgot, unless you’re here to say how amazing and beautiful breastfeeding is or to suck up to celebrity moms who use cloth diapers, breastfeed, co-sleep, wear their baby in a sling, etc., your thoughts don’t matter… that is, unless you’re trashing Britney Spears because the CBB site owners don’t like her.

I’ll have to keep this in mind next time I decide to waste my time typing a comment.

Seems like everyone is an agreement for once! lol:) Being sober for the three kids you already have should be reason enough! Its so sad to me when I see people like this who have no problem having a baby, and then there are people out there that would make wonderful parents and don’t need to be pregnant to stay sober and can’t have a baby. It just seems so unfair to me!

I’m shocked she continues having kids.I would think since she has spent the last couple of years having children, she would take a break to focus on breaking her addictions completely.

- Renee on

I honestly cannot believe this woman. She calls her ex hubby a bad father etc., and yes, maybe Brian is an absent father, but Kerry needs to sort out her priorities – namely her children. They’re so young and impressionable and they don’t deserve this.

Kerry certainly didn’t deserve what her mom did to her and exposed her to, and one would think that’s a very good reason for Kerry not to make the same mistakes her mom did. Knowing how she felt when she was so young, going thru so many horrible ordeals and living with constant instability, her main goal should be to surround herself and her own kiddies with the exact opposite.

Kerry needs help. I wish her and her family all the best, but please think of your babies first and foremost Kerry.

i am 28 i had constant women problems and every month was perscribed vicodin by dr.moron and never did any illegal drugs before but after 5 years of using it i was addicted and when i knew i was pregnant that was it i may want that viocidin but my sons health safety and well being are first and that pill is not part of me being a good mother so for her to keep having kids when she can’t say goodbye to drugs is insane being high or drunk while taking care of your children should not be allowed if it is against the law to drink and drive because you could kill someone what about being so high that you could kill your own child drinking is fine if it is in moderation and your not so drunk that your child will be harmed
