Sharon Osbourne calls IVF treatment ‘mental torture’

Kellyosbourne720_cbbSharon Osbourne, 54, opened up about her experience with in vitro fertilization, calling the process “mental torture.” Sharon, who manages the career of her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, admitted they were desperate to have another child after the birth of their son, Jack, 21, but were unable to conceive after his birth. A rapidly-spreading stomach infection ravaged her fallopian tubes, leaving the couple with in-vitro fertilization as their only option.

Sharon, who also has two daughters, Aimee, 24, and Kelly, 22, underwent IVF treatment in the late 1980’s, but quickly discovered she couldn’t cope with process.

Sadly it didn’t work. After I had Jack I got a stomach infection and I didn’t treat it, so the infection spread into my tubes and messed them up. So we went through IVF but oh my God, I just couldn’t take that ride.

The wait for results, for each phone call, was mental torture. It did me in and I couldn’t go through it again.

Sharon opened up about the experience in her new autobiography, Extreme, Survivor, scheduled for an October 4 UK release.

I LOVE THEM…
LOVE THAT PIC.

Does anyone have a link to Kelly’s performance in Chicago?

Ive never gone through IVF, but I had read about the hormone process they put women through. So I agree with her as much as I can without having gone through it. I’m so sensitive to hormones I can’t even take hormonal birth control.

I thought that Sharon said awhile back that Ozzy had a vasectomy. Why would he have a vasectomy if they were trying to get pregnant?

He probably had it after the IVF when they got older and decided that they didn’t want any more children.

I love Sharon. I’ve read that she suffered many miscarriages before having their first child Aimee but I never knew about her going through IVF. Very interesting.

do you not think he had the vasectomy because of his infadelity as well? sharon has always been very straightforward about this subject as well. I love sharon and ozzy

What kind of stomach infection spreads to your fallopian tubes??? I didn’t even realize this was possible! Anybody doctors/nurses out there know?

Hate to say this, but is it possible Ozzy cheated on her and then passed along something nasty that ruined her fertility? I’m not a doctor, but how does a stomach flu go into your tubes? Sounds like a euphemism for an STD. Seriously curious about this, because it sounds frightening.
