Fall Shopping Guide: Wee Gallery Introduces Wall Art

Weegallery_mobile_2I wish I had discovered Wee Gallery when Anya was still a teeny baby because I found it very hard to find black and white graphic items even though all I had ever heard was that babies loved contrasty images.

Hand drawn by Surya Sajnani, mother of two and graphic designer, theanimal-based art cards are a great way to stimulate baby’s visualsenses and teach them about animals. When I met them at last year’s ABC Kids Expo, Surya and her husband/businesspartner Dave gave Anya the Original, Sea, and Farm sets of the 5×7 cards last year and she LOVED them.  Still does to this day.

The best baby mobile ever is the Wimmer-Ferguson Infant Stim from Manhattan Baby. I was quite sceptical at first, since the simple black and white designs seemed so boring. I didn’t put the mobile up at first, but had some of the pictures lying near the changing table. At first, I could not figure out why my daughter was so quiet and content whenever I changed her. Then, when she was about 8 weeks old, I noticed that she was always staring in the same direction – right at those simple black and white Wimmer-Ferguson pictures. She was just entranced by them – so I put up the mobile, much to her delight. When she got a bit older, she became more and more interested in the more colorful ones, espcially those with simple animal faces.
