Olympic skier Beckie Scott welcomes son

Retired cross-country skier Beckie Scott, 33, and her husband, Justin Wadsworth, welcomed son Teo Jacob on Sunday, September 16.   He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces. The two-time Olympic medalist stated in a press release,

Standing on the Olympic podium is an incredible experience that I willnever forget, but the day Justin and I finally got to meet and hold Teofor the first time was absolutely hands down, the best day of ourlives.

Justin, who is a coach for the United States cross country ski-team, is already dreading being away from his wife and son when it is time for him to travel with the team.

Being a ski coach and a father won’t be the easiest combination, butthe current coaching structure of the U.S. Ski Team allows us to havegood quality home time between trips which I’m really excited for. The first week of being a daddy has been absolutelyawesome and I know it is only going to get better. We are both soexcited.

Beckie is relying on her friend and former teammate, Sara Renner, for advice.  Sara gave birth to daughter Aria in February.

Sara and I ended up delivering the babies with the same doctor, in thesame hospital, only eight months apart, so it is getting more difficultto convince people we don’t do everything together. Sara’s baby, Aria, was one of Teo’s first visitors. It has been greatto have Sara around to turn to, and ask questions about being a mom. Itreally has been a special experience to both become mothers in the sameyear.

does anyone know how teo’s name is pronounced?

Yay! Finally a Canadian baby (on the mum’s side even though it was born in the USA) on CBB! :-)

The baby was delivered at a hospital in Banff– which is in Alberta.

Elisabeth, I presumed because her husband was a USA cross-country coach they’d be living in the USA and that was where she gave birth. CBB did not indicate where the baby was born, and I did not do a Google (I have since).

Btw, karen, Teo is pronounced Tay-oh.

Dad Said It

"Harper was a name that we've loved for a long time for a couple of reasons. Harper is an old English name, and Victoria's favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird."
