Calire, I don't think it's a tribute to her mother, but it's still an ironic twist that it was sung by Cave at her mother's lover's funeral.

Yes, Nick Cave is a genius. I like the fact that he has not become mainstream, but he deserves more success than he has had. This man belongs right up there with Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits. Mark Lanegan too.

I'd suggest, if this is true, that the tattoo is in fact a tribute to her mother. 'Into My Arms' by Nick Cave was reported to be the favourite tune of Michael Hutchence and Paula Yates, and Nick Cave performed the song at their individual funeral in 1997 and 200 respectively.

Her mom was known as an extremist, so it doesn't suprise me, however if it were me I'd just put the lyrics in a pretty frame hand it to my boyfriend and hang it on the wall.
