Update: Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson welcome daughter Ruby Megan

Update: In an announcement this morning on her official website, it was revealed that the couple have decided to name their daughter Ruby Megan. Charlotte’s grandmother Maria Cooper told reporters,

She is my first great-grandchild and she is beautiful. Charlotte and Gavin are tired but doing fine.

Originally posted September 21st: Singer Charlotte Church, 21, and her boyfriend, rugby player Gavin Henson, 25, welcomed a daughter at their UK home at 10:35 pm on Thursday evening. The baby girl weighed in at 6 lbs, 12 oz — the same birth weight as Charlotte. A spokesman confirms,

A baby girl was born sometime on Thursday evening. Midwives were present at the home birth.

A friend says,

Charlotte and Gavin are over the moon. She’s everything they wished for. I’m sure Charlotte’s going to be a wonderful mum to her.

The couple announced that they were expecting back in March. They will be releasing the birth details on Charlotte’s website on Monday.

I was actually thinking wondering what name she’d choose and Ava did pop into my head as its pretty and very english/irish/welsh etc pretty iykwim? Like Grace or Elise or Holly or Lily or Jessica. I reckon something traditional and pretty basically.

Congratulation to Charlotte and Gavin on their new baby. I really think the name is perfect. I absolutely love the name Ruby Megan. It’s a perfect choice and it’s Welsh too. I am from the U.S. but would love to live in Wales it’s gorgeous there. I think that she looks just like a stunning lil pearl just as her name Megan means and well those ruby red lips say it all.
