Click below for all the photos and interview highlights, including the UK star’s ‘traumatic’ pregnancy, how they’re following family tradition, deciding on names, and how Jenny hates people touching her belly!
How are you feeling about being mum and dad?
Jenny: It’s weird, I know I’m pregnant but I’ve not really connected to the whole baby thing yet.
Dom: I’m feeling ecstatic, excited and scared — all thoseemotions rolled into one! When we first found out, Jen came in to meand said, "I’ve done the test!" And then we just looked at each other. We wanted to jump for joy but we had to wait for the safe time beforetelling anyone.
But the pregnancy hasn’t all been plain smiling, has it?
J: No, it’s been pretty traumatic actually. The first few monthsI had terrible morning sickness, then after the five-month scan, thedoctors told me my baby had a possible problem with his development soa consultant had to monitor the baby to see if it developed intoanything. He’s still being monitored but it looks like things are goingto be okay, touch wood.
D: Going through all of that has totally put things into perspective but Jen has been amazing.
Are either of you squeamish?
J: Yes, very!
D: I’m not at all but I’ve been told I’ve got to stand at one particular end, so I’m sure I’ll be the one getting clouted!
Jenny, are you scared about your waters breaking in public?
Oh, don’t! I’d die, I really would.
When did you find out that you were expecting a boy?
J: I wanted to find out after 16 weeks, as soon as possible! Idid want a girl because I’ve got a lot of boys around me, but I’m happynow. There haven’t been any girls in Dom’s family for over a hundredyears so I’m obviously following a family tradition!
Have you thought of any names?
D: We’ve got a few ideas. The plan is to find three or four that we love and see what suits him when he’s born.
J: I’ve thought of some but nobody likes them — including Dom –so I went off them. I’m not telling anyone my new ones because I’m sickof everyone putting them down!
Do you think you’ll be protective parents?
J: Yes, but I was 17 when I left home to take up a job in Japanand although I was scared, my mum always said to me, "Would you ratherregret something that you’ve done or regret something you haven’t ? Getgoing!" She always encouraged me so I was a free spirit – as long as mybaby is happy, I will be.
Have you put much weight on?
I’ve put on three stone [42 lbs] and I have a chipolata thinggoing on! People ask me if I feel more unattractive or sexy with mybump but I don’t feel either. It was really weird doing the OK! shoot because it’s the first time I’ve ever done one where I’ve not had to breathe in!
Have you got any plans for more kids?
J: It’s definitely too soon to say because this pregnancy hascompletely done me in, so I’m in no rush to do it again. My God, ifit’s as a dramatic next time as this time I don’t know what I’ll do.But then again, I would love this one to have a little sister.
Do you think the baby will bring you and Dom closer?
J: If it’s possible, but we’re pretty sickly tight anyway. He’smy best friend and I’m so lucky to have him. It’s been eight years nowso we must be doing something right! I’m a big softie and absolutesucker when it comes to him. He’s going to be such a great dad.
D: I think it’s already brought us closer because suddenly we’ll have another person and being one big unit can only enhance us.
What has freaked you out the most during this pregnancy?
J: What I find really freaky is people touching my stomach.People I don’t know just automatically grab my tummy and I hate it!Also I was in Moscow recently and everyone just stared at my belly indisbelief. Maybe if you’re pregnant then there you’re not meant toflaunt your bump but I felt a bit like an alien!
Have you had any weird cravings?
D: Yes, she’s had a real phase with pickled onions and wentthrough three jars in two days! Other than that it’s chocolate, butthat’s nothing new!
J: I go through phases where I go mad and eat ten Curly Wurlysevery day for a week, and then I’ll hate them for the next few weeks!
Dom, have you had much fatherly advice from your mates?
D: The friends I’ve spoken to have all said the wrong thingslike, "You’ll be constantly knackered," which makes me nervous butgenerally everyone says it’s the best thing in the world.
J: I’ve had advice from my best mate Davina Taylor. It’s been great having someone to compare notes with as she’s been two months ahead of me the whole way.
Dom, can you change a nappy?
D: Pass! Don’t you just buy them ready-made? There are a few things I need to learn so Jen has promised to teach me!
J: He hates reading so I had to read to him!
D: We’ve also been playing the bump calming tunes because arecord producer friend of mine made a record to play to hisgirlfriend’s bump and called it Basses Maternal - it was so cool.
How are you feeling about all those nights in?
J: I’ve not drunk for months so I’m used to nights in, althoughon the occasional night out I’m into non-alcoholic beer because I canpretend it’s the real thing. I’m most looking forward to cozy nightscurled up with my baby.
D: I work a lot in nightclubs so it will make nights in even moreprecious. I’ve even cut down on the booze — but it’s hard beingsurrounded by it at work!
How did you feel when you first saw the baby on the scan?
D: It was exciting but those 3D scans are so odd — he looked likea boy in a cave. He kicks really hard now, I’ve felt some big ones youcan actually see.
J: If I prod the bump, he does it back, so I keep telling Dom to talk to my belly!
Could you see what he looks like?
J: He had a little dimple in his chin, but it could’ve been ashadow, and he’s got really cool big lips. He also had a huge nose butapparently they grow into them — I was so relieved when I saw Katie and Peter: The Baby Diaries because Katie saw her scan and went, "My God it’s a big
nose!"
D: It’s unfortunate if they really has got a big nose!
Jenny, will you go back to work?
Definitely, probably part-time to begin with and, as Dom works nights, there’ll always be one of us with him.
Will you miss the bump?
Maybe I’ll miss talking to it, but it’ll be even better having him here in person — I can’t wait!
