Keith Urban waiting for the right time to have children

Nicole Kidman, 40, recently revealed to Vanity Fair her desire to have children with husband, Keith Urban, 39, and it appears that he feels the same way. However, the country music star is waiting for the right timing. He said,

We both would love to have children when the time is right. And right now we just don’t have that time. But it’s not likewe’re not not trying.

Any children that the couple have will join 14-year-old Isabella and 12-year-old Connor, Nicole’s children from her marriage to Tom Cruise.

Oooooh Keith!!!! I just got home from his concert in Vancouver BC and it was one of the most amazing concerts I’ve been too! He is so much sexier in person haha, I can’t wait to see their kids!!!!

- Shannon on

He want to WAIT? She is 40 years old and has had 2 miscarriages. I think her time is running out or already ran out.

- Cindy on

I really like Nicole and Keith. But it’s at the point for me where I think they should just keep it private. She’s forty years old, has a history of miscarriages and yet she keeps talking about when “the time is right”. He’s 39 and hasn’t had children yet. If you’re waiting for a perfect moment, it’s never going to happen. Try, don’t try, whatever. She’s already the mother of two and admits that she doesn’t spend enough time with those kids because they prefer living in LA. As I said, I like them and wish them well, but they starting to sound foolish.

- Shay on

He wants to wait for the right time. She is 40 years old and has had 2 miscarriages, I think their time is almost up!(If it isn’t already). They don’t have time.

- Cindy on

I really hope that they have beautiful healthy children when they are ready but it does bug me that celebs think they can have children whenever they want. 40 is quite old to be bringing a child into the world. It makes regular people without access to the expensive specialists that they can do the same. It’s really not a safe assumption.

- tippythepoodle on

Nicole’s 40. How much time does she really have? I’m sick of the myth that women are fertile until its time for the old folks home.

- J-Lin on

um, she’s 40. if they keep pondering it, time’s gonna run out for a natural conception.

- aury on

Did it ever occur to any of you that maybe Keith and Nicole are just responding to the questions from the press in this way so that they can get everyone of their backs. Celebrities are constantly being hounded by the press about when they’re going to have babies, and maybe they don’t want to be rude and refuse to answer, so they just say whatever they have to in order to try to get people to back off.

- Kate on

she ain’t gettin’ any younger!

marcia cross is gonna be yelling in their ear in a minute.

- ang on

Kate- ITA!

Aury- Maybe concieving naturally isn’t the goal for them. For all we know, they may have decided to do fertility treatments when the time comes. Also, it’s possible that they may decide to use donor eggs (considering that Nicole has adopted, I get the feeling that she mostly wants to experiencing pregnancy and birth, but doesn’t neccesarily mind that much about having children that are biologically hers). Who knows, they may even adopt (they’ve never said anything that even suggests that they’ve ruled out adoption).

As for her miscarriages….Really, all we know is that she had one. The supposid second one was never confirmed, as far as I know (at least not by Nicole or Tom!). She’s certainly not the only celeb who has had miscarriage rumors spread about her (for example, there was a rumor a few years ago that Demi Moore had a miscarriage….But it was never confirmed that she was even pregnant at that time, let alone had a miscarriage!), so it’s very possible that Nicole really did have one miscarriage.

Even if she really did have two miscarriages, that does NOT mean that she can’t hold a pregnancy! I know of several women who have had two or more miscarriages (my own mother included!) and later went on to have healthy children! In fact, from what I have heard, miscarriage isn’t considered a sign of fertilty troubles (in this case, being able to mantain a pregnancy) unless the woman has had three consecutive miscarriages.

Anyway, the fact of the matter is, even in the general public, the number of first-time moms in their 40s (and even a few in their 50s!) has increased dramatically in the last several years. Granted, a lot of that is due to the fertility treatments avaliable today, but some women over 40 have concieved naturally!

- Annoyomus on

If its meant to be then those two will concieve no matter what the time or how conception happened.

- J.Lynn on

At her age and with her previous unhappy pregnancies I don’t expect any pregnancy announcement from her at all. She had at least one miscarriage (at her twenties), so if she wants to wait at her fourties for the right time, it’s completely lost.

- Petra on

I don’t know Nicole Kidman but its safe to say that she’s aware of her age. And it’s probably safe to say she’s aware of the implications of her age on her fertility. If she’s gone to her physician in recent years, kept up on the news, or talked to family/friends about having kids – it is safe to say she is aware she won’t be fertile forever.

Her husband hasn’t even been sober this time for a year. In my opinion, stabilizing and getting settled with sobriety and their marriage (he relapsed so soon after they married) should take precedence over getting pregnant – whether you are 25 or 45.

- madison on

“But it’s not like we’re not not trying.”

So, is he saying they’re just letting things happen as they happen?

Kate- I think you make a great point. I never understand why reports ask celebs when they’re going to start a family. I never understand why anyone asks that question. You never know what’s going on in someones life and that kind of question can be hurtful to some.

I wish them luck.

- Kris on

My point is not that that she’s too old, or can’t carry a pregancy, or that’s he newly sober or any of that. There comes a time when you simply don’t respond to these questions. If you’re saying the time’s not right or you don’t have the time, and then say but it’s not like we’re not not trying, you sound foolish. What does that even mean? Just a polite “no comment” will do.

- Shay on

From personal observation (friends & family), I’ve found that men with past addiction problems are not good parents. Nicole also seems to have never bonded with her kids, which I partially attribute to the fact that her mother didn’t believe in showing affection or expressing love. Just seems Keith & Nicole would be better off avoiding parenthood.

- madam pince on

madam prince – what is this assumption that Nicole has not bonded with her children? You mean just because she doesn’t make all their time together a “photo shoot” like Tom Cruise does?

None of us know Nicole & Keith personally and to speculate that they would not be good parents is unfair.

- Tessa Fields on

I think nicole and keith would make great parents! nicole is wonderfully bonded to her two children, surely you can see that! many couples these days already have frozen embros wating to be transfered at the chosen time. today women are even having their eggs frozen for future use. today almost any women who wants a baby can have one. thats how much we have advanced in the last few years. if you don’t beleive me just check with a fertility EXPERT.I hope nicole and keith will get the very best fertility EXPERT they can find if they are really serious about having a babyand know that I will be praying for your success. I love you both!

- emma on

I don’t agree with the statement saying that Tom Cruise makes all their time together photoshoots. I don’t believe that going to your daughters soccer game, or seeing you son play basketball at school is a photoshoot. I think that is a regular dad doing regular things. Although I understand that photos are only a seconds glance at someones life, I don’t understand how a Huge movie star like Nicole Kidman is rarely, if Ever, shown in pictures with her kids…the last I remember are at her wedding last year, which I would consider a “photo shoot” setting more than anything else. There are pictures of her Keith often enough, but never with her kids. And it sounds like LOTS of celebrities commute cross country to see their children on a regular basis, so I find it kind of lame that they are stationed mostly in Nashville because of Keith, instead of somewhere where she can see more of her children.

- MaryMary on

These 2 folks think they can have REAL kids when they are 60 yrs old. They need to go to an anatomy and physiology class. They are OLD already!??!

- star on

Come on MaryMary, how many big stars like Tom Cruise are photographed at their kids soccer games on a regular basis? And you must not check out People or Us magazine websites because there have been pictures of Nicole with her kids at the Nickeloden Awards and also when they all were on vacation including stepfather Keith. Also, when Nicole won her Oscar, she dedicated the award to her mother and daughter who were sitting in the audience. Just because you don’t see the photos doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
