Kathie Lee Gifford's daughter wants to be an actress
Kathie Lee Gifford, best known for her role as co-host on Regis and Kathie Lee, has done it all in her career–host, sing, act and write. And it appears that her daughter Cassidy Erin, 14, may just follow in mom’s footsteps. The 54-year-old mom said,
My daughter is a very serious acting student. We just cameback from a week of her training in Los Angeles. She studied at theStrasberg Institute last year here in New York.
No matter what Cassidy decides to do with her acting, Kathie Lee is going to stand behind and support her daughter. She said,
Every child deserves their own dream. My parents created an environmentto help my dreams come true, and that’s all I want to do for my kids aswell. I’m not at all concerned about her choice in dreams. That’s herbusiness. It’s just that I have to help her make wise choices. And I’llbe on the set with her. There’s no way I’m letting her out of my sight! She just turned 14 years old. She’s certainly not ready to be alone inthis world emotionally.
With all of her experience in the business, Kathie Lee promises not to become a stage mother. She says,
Not at all. No, no. A stage mom would be somebody that is trying toinflict her own dreams on her child against her will, and I amcompletely against that. I saw that for years, all these kids that cameon the show. No, no. If she loved soccer, I’d be sending her to soccercamp. It’s in her DNA as much as football is in [my son] Cody’s.
Son Cody Newton is 17. Dad is Kathie Lee’s husband, former NFL player Frank Gifford.
