Susan Sarandon's daughter Eva named Goodwill Ambassador

Actress Eva Amurri, 22, Susan Sarandon‘s daughter, has been named a celebrity United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Recently Eva traveled to Africa and visited children attending schools in Namibia. She volunteered her time to help paint dorms and teach "arts, crafts and recreational activities." The schools Eva volunteered at are all funded by the United Nation’s HERO initiative.

Being in Namibia this past July and working with the kids has been such an enlightening experience and I’m looking forward to returning in the future.

As part of her responsibilities as Goodwill Ambassador, Eva will help with fund-raising for children living in HIV/AIDS-affected communities in Africa.

Eva follows mother Susan’s, 60, footsteps as a Goodwill Ambassador. Susan was appointed in 1999 as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and actively supported the organization’s global advocacy as well as the work of the Canadian UNICEF Committee.

Eva’s father is Italian director Franco Amurri.

What a lovely departure from the status quo of celebutantes and celeb kids. It’s wonderful to hear she’s out trying to making a difference in the world rather than doing recreational drugs or drinking herself into stupor and doing inane things to disgrace her parents.

That’s wonderful! I didn’t know Susan Sarandon was a Goodwill Ambassador. It’s great to see her daughter follow her example.

I wonder, *why* didn’t I know Susan was a Goodwill Ambassador? I’ve never seen her in the news or in any magazines, advocating for impoverished people. Why is it that only Oprah and Angelina Jolie’s humanitarian efforts make the news? What they do is great, but they’re not the only ones. Any celebrity who spreads goodwill deserves the same recognition.

That’s fantastic! I wouldn’t expect anything less from the daughter of Susan Sarandon! She just seems like a brilliant woman.
