Rumor: Madonna set to adopt another child from Malawi

Several reports surfaced this week claiming Madonna was given the green light to adopt a second orphan from Malawi. Madonna brought home David Banda, 22 months, after a trip to a Malawi orphanage. Apparently the singer now has her heart set on adopting a 13-month-old girl named Mercy.

Madonna reportedly told her attorney in Malawi to cover “all legal bases” to ensure that she will be able to pick up Mercy from the orphanage in April 2008. David’s adoption is expected to be finalized shortly before, in January 2008.Before finding Mercy, Madonna had her heart set on adopting another little girl, Grace, from the same orphanage. After Grace’s family objected to the adoption, Madonna found Mercy and became “over the moon” with the idea of adopting her. Although Madonna doesn’t “want another complicated adoption,” explained a source close to the singer, she adores the little girl, and loves "the way she claps her hands and laughs constantly. She has huge, dancing eyes. Madonna calls her her smiling angel." 

Madonna’s rep refused to comment on the latest adoption rumors, but a source said she is expected to file adoption papers in February, once David’s adoption is finalized.

Didn’t they say that Madonna said something simmilar about Grace? I’m sure I’ve heard that she called Grace her “smiling angel” or am I going a bit loopy?
