Princess Beatrice and boyfriend try out zero gravity

08/27/2007 at 06:51 AM ET

Princess Beatrice, 19, and her American boyfriend Dave Clark, 25, tried out zero gravity aboard G-Force 1, a specially modified Boeing 747. The 90-minute trip gave them a taste of weightlesness as they tried ‘flying’ and pouring water into air to watch the droplets floating around. Dave works for Richard Branson’s space tourism initiative and has reportedly persuaded Beatrice to join him on Branson’s first Space mission.

Beatrice is the daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, 47, and Sarah, Duchess of York, 47, and she has younger sister Princess Eugenie, 17.

I’m probably going to sound cynical here, but this is quite a publicity coup for young Dave. Working for Branson’s space tourism initiative – having a royal onboard certainly lends it an air of credibility and safety. Even though she’s a “spare” heir, I don’t think the English monarchy would let a princess do something completely stupid or dangerous.

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
