LeAnn Rimes' fans want her to have a baby

Country music sensation LeAnn Rimes, 24, says that her fans are very adamant that she should have a baby with husband of five years, Dean Sheremet.

The Grammy award winning singer recently was quoted as saying,

I have gotten so many crazy comments. People going, ‘Youneed to have a baby!’ People feel like they’re like my parents or mygrandparents or my brother or sister, and they’re like, ‘You’ve beenwaiting too long. We’ve been waiting on you to announce that.’ And I’mlike, ‘Hold on a second — what?’ It’s so funny, the comments that I getfrom people.

Don’t get her wrong, LeAnn does want to be a mother but she is waiting for her career to slow down some.  Her next album, entitled Family, is due out in October.

When it happens, it happens. A lot of them sound like my mom. They’relike, ‘When is it gonna happen?’ My mom’s always asking that. When lifeslows down a little — that’s when it’s meant to be.

Normally I find it really annoying when someone tells someone else they should have a baby. But I think in LeAnn’s case the reason why people are asking her about a baby so much is because she said in an interview a year ago that she and her husband where going to start a family this year. So her fans are probably just going on what she said in that interview.

I do still think it’s kind of insensitive for people to keep asking someone if they’re pregnant, even when they know that person is trying to get pregnant, because it’s always possible that they’re experiencing fertility problems or something and asking constantly could be upsetting.

But I don’t think LeAnn should be surprised that people are wondering about a baby, in light of the interview she gave.

Perhaps people think that she should have a baby by now is because her and her husband have been married for 5 years now. Most couples, that I know, have babies in the first couple years of being married. But people have to remember that LeAnne is 24! She’s got plenty of time to have babies!!!

I got married last weekend and I’m already getting the “when are you going to have kids” questions. It’s really annoying. Like LeAnne, I’m 24 and my husband is 22. Kids are a loonnnnggg way away.

People should realize that there is no rule that people should automatically go into have a baby mode after a set amount of years being married. it’s absurd.

my husband and i have been married for 5 years and we are struggling with infertility. everytime someone tells us we should have a baby because we’ve been married almost 6 years, it upsets me so badly.

i’ve learned not to ever ask anyone when they are going to have a baby. it’s an invasion of privacy!

i wish leeann and dean the best and will be very happy for them when and if they have children.

When I saw LeeAnn mentioned here on CBB I’d thought it meant she had announced something, but I agree that she & Dean can take as much time as she feels comfortable to have kids, esp. since she’s only 24.

Anyway imho, I think the reason why some people (mostly family) inquire about when the kids will be coming is because:

a. They want to see if you’re already expecting, but just didn’t tell them.

b. They can’t wait to become grandparents and carry on the family line.

c. They can’t wait for YOU to have kids so that you can finally simpathsize with what you put them through as an infant/toddler/child/teen.

d. They like to find any reason to party, and a Baby = Baby Shower.

e. They don’t really want you to become a yuppie who never wants kids, because in their mind that says something about their parenting skills of you.

f. They dont want you to “wait too long” and then have to seek (what they think was unneccesary) fertility treatments as a late 30s-early 40s mom.

g. They also don’t want you to “wait too long” so that they can enjoy their grandkids before they’re too old, and so you can be an empty nester at a younger age yourself.

h. (In reference to unmarried friends & peers) They want to know when the fun times wll end & the kids begin…or they’re measuring themselves to you to see how quickly they can “catch up” to you.

Autumn, I thoroughly enjoyed your post! And its sooo true!!

I am looking forward to leAnn having a baby too! I have followed her career since she came out with “Blue” at 14! She is an amazing artist and seems like such a mature woman. I think she would make an excellent mother!!! I think its also amazing she and her husband have been together for that long already. At the age they married and the industry they are in it seems the odds are definitely stacked against them! So, its nice to see that!

This brings to mind what Sandra Bullock said to someone when asked when she was gonna get pregnant…. something along the lines of “does it occur to you that I might have fertility problems!!” Something like that. Good for you Sandra! I agree that at 24 LeAnn has time. She is an amazing talent and her and her husband are so adorable together. Well wishes.

I agree with Melissa, if having kids were a priority, her career would slow down a lot, after all, she’s the one that controls that. She should just be honest and say, “Kids just aren’t in our plans right now.”

I think asking people when they are having kids or why they haven’t yet is rude IMO. A lot of the time people could be having problems, and you have no idea about it. My neighbor has been married 11yrs and is always asked, my god when will you guys have a baby. She burst into tears one day at a family party where all her cousins and her sister had kids, and said well I would if I could get pregnant.

Dancingthrulife & Gabriella – great points! Even at 24, Leann could be struggling with infertility. I’d love to see her with a baby and I hope she is able to have one when she’s ready.

I am a big fan of LeAnn Rimes. I started listening to her when I was 4 (haha, I’m 15 now.) She is actually only 10 years older than me. I think it would be so cute if she had a baby! (She’s 25 now.) I guess it is a little insensitive to keep pushing people to have babies, but this is LeAnn Rimes we’re talking about. And if she doesn’t have one soon, what’s she gonna do, wait till she’s 30 or 40 or 50? What if she wants to have more than one child? I only want to see LeAnn have a baby because I love her and am sure any baby she had would be beautiful or handsome.
