Kelly Rutherford and son Hermès at NYC playground

Actress Kelly Rutherford, 38, and her son, Hermès Gustaf Daniel, 10 months, were spotted at a NYC playground earlier today. Also joining them was Kelly’s service dog, which she is training for its future job aiding a person with disabilities.

Adorable. They look like such great playmates! And that little boy is a big spunk. My 18mth old little boy also squeals with delight when i run up and grab him (growling like a tiger naturally) while he is swinging.

Only problem is the poncho…. on a little boy?….on anyone? But like it matters that i have poncho issues.

Great shots.

So she trains service dogs? That was so unexpected for me to read, but so cool at the same time. Awesome for her.

That was a great PR for service dogs! There is long waiting list for them because there aren’t enough people volunteering to “foster” them which is what Kelly is doing. Kudos to Kelly for doing this! I wonder what agency the dog is for as there is no side picture of the dog’s vest.

Sarah’s note: There was one side picture in the set, but I did not see a name. The vest has a white star with a plus sign/first aid sign in the middle. Above the star, it says SERVICE DOG, below the star, it says, ‘Access Required. Please do not pet.’

I did not know she named her son Hermes. I just don’t like it, sounds very snobbish, like the name Gucci or Prada for a girl!

Sarah’s note: I believe they were thinking more the Greek god rather than the designer.

He looks like her

I love the idea of a ponch for a baby. Would be great in the fall to keep babies warm, PLUS it would be easy to slip over their head instead of wrestling with sleeves. It would also allow a lot of movement for the baby. Great idea if you ask me!

I think it is great that they are training a service dog… but it’s going to be so hard for them to give him back when he is fully trained and has to work!

Anyway, I hope her example makes more people volunteer!

I love her jeans and shoes! Any ideas who they are???

In response to Sarah’s note:

Ah, I have seen those vests before. They’re generic vests people can get to help identify a service dog. Doesn’t identify any particular training agency, but they’re legit. http://www.nucapes.com/102Red.jpg

She looks beautiful. I love to see a new mom without makeup and still looking georgous!

Since when did it matter what we thought of a name? It is actually pretty tame compared to Audio Science.

Wow – she looks tired!

I love her jeans and gym shoes! Anyone know who makes them?????
THANKS!

She looks unbelievable in these pics…. so fresh looking! Her son has her coloring and is adorable. Interested to know more about what she actually does with the service dog. Love the pics.

He’s gorgeous! I LOVE how he is dressed (as a NON-fan of trucks/dinosaurs boy clothing!)

I live in NYC as well and there is no way that a dog is allowed into the playground area in any of the West Village parks. Not unless you needed a service dog, which I don’t think is the case here.

Sarah’s note: I think he may be allowed because he’s in the process of being trained?

staci, her jeans are hudson triangle pocket jeans. looks like she cropped them herself. hudson makes the absolute BEST jeans. ever. they have the perfect amount of stretch to them and are super soft, which is probably why she’s playing with her son in them. depending where you shop, they normally cost around $168 a pair, but they are sooooooo worth it!!!!

Ok, who makes those great sneakers? I really like her fashion sense! Very cute mom & kid.

What an adorable boy he is! And I just love those ugg boots! They’re really sweet!

- Jo on

I love the way he’s dressed, very cute! I am just wondering though, if any of you live in NY, what was the weather like today? It was over 100 degrees where I live (TN) so I was just a little taken aback to see him and Kelly both in heavier fabrics/shoes.

With that said, I feel I need to add a disclaimer that I am NOT criticizing because it really bothers me when people nitpick anything and everything a celeb or their child says, wears, does, etc. I am honestly just curious what the weather was like because it’s been 90-100+ every day here for the past month straight (and no central a/c in my house, ugh!), so I’m just jealous of people are experiencing cool enough weather to wear heavier fabrics! LOL

Sarah’s note: It’s been fall-ish weather since last Saturday but it’s supposed to warm up for the weekend!

Leigh, I live in Knoxville! 107 heat index today (Fri). Yeicks!!! I do have AC tho. You poor thing! I have wondered the same about clothing I’ve seen in many pics, a little “weather envy” lol

- Campbell on

OOh I love the poncho! I wonder if they are from a store or if someone made it for him??

I have those Uggs for my son and can’t wait for him to fit into them this fall/winter!

- Samana on

Campbell, I’m in Knoxville too! :-)
