Details of Dannielynn Birkhead's 1st birthday party emerge

At a birthday party that will surely rival no other, Dannielynn Birkhead is poised to turn 1-year-old next month, and she’ll mark the milestone in style alongside her dad Larry BirkheadTricia Barnstable Brown — the Kentucky socialite and host of the annual ‘Barnstable Brown’ celebrity gala, where Larry and Dannielynn’s late mom Anna Nicole Smith met in 2004 — agreed to host the soiree at Larry’s request.  Confirms Tricia:

Larry is bringing Dannielynn in from L.A. to celebrate her first birthday party.

Approximately 200 friends and family are on the invite list, including Howard K. Stern, who has already confirmed that he will attend according to Tricia.  Larry previously said that he was ‘thinking big’ for the event, and it seems as though he meant it:  Guests will be treated to a catered meal, elaborate decorations and hot-air balloon rides, Tricia said.

Seems a bit much for a one year olds birthday … I hope Dannielynn is not TOO overwhelmed and stimulated by 200 guests!

- charsmom on

She’s turning one and won’t have any memories of the event. Why not donate what is sure to be the obscene amount of money spent on this party to charity, like a drug abuse research fund for instance, and give her a homemade cake she can smash her fist into. Add a few cardboard boxes, some wrapping paper and her little cousin and I’m sure Dannielynn couldn’t tell the difference.

- Lilybett on

What a first year of life she’s had! I personally think it’s rather silly to go all-out for a one-year-old’s birthday party, since they’re not going to remember it anyway, but of course I only say that because I don’t have kids yet. For parents, a year must feel like a major milestone.

- Nausicaa on

Wow. I wonder if her sweet 16 will be on that MTV show. He sure is setting the bar high to start!

- terri on

what an over the top first bday IMHO. Bake the girl a cake and have close friends and family over to celebrate quietly. Celeb or not…first bdays are not remembered and Dannielynn will probably fall asleep soon after the party starts. Sounds like its more an excuse for adults to party!! Nonetheless…happy upcoming bday to Dannielynn!!

- tink1217 on

Lilybett I thought the EXACT same thing when I first heard about it. The original article(and few a since) I read from their local paper qouted Ms. Brown saying Larry asked her to host the party for him at her home and my first thought was “why?!”. Dannielynn won’t know or recognize 90% of the people and she certainly will have no grasp of what will be going on. A pretty cake, friends and family, some new toys and a digital camera at home would suit her likes just fine. Then I read the follow up article that said OK! magazine, Splash photo agency, and Access Hollywood had bought the exclusive rights to the party and I realized why Daddy had the urge to throw this ridiculously frivolous and large soiree. This isn’t picture control because he’s NOT being chased around the country the way Brad and Angelina, Tom and Katie, or Nicole and Joel have. The only pics I’ve seen of that child are the ones her father sold or participated in. I don’t recall us having inside video/photos of Shiloh or Suri’s first. I’m not doubting he loves his daughter, but it’s nearly obscene the amount of public appearances he’s made with her in the five months he’s had custody (I can list them out too if needs be).

- Grayson's Girl on

I would love to say he isn’t doing it for the $$ but come on. In the first place where would he get that kind of money to pay for that kind of party and for 2 access hollywood and splash news? Come on. That man has sold pictures of that baby to the media since he first got her. I wonder if he even has a job other than what money the baby is raking in. On a side note she sure is a beauty.

- bell on

You know, I agree that this is a lot for a birthday party for anyone, much less a one year old. But when I consider all he’s been through just to have his child WITH him, I’ll bet he just wants to give her the moon. Can you imagine not having your child with you, and not even knowing if you’ll ever get to be a part of her life?

Successive parties will probably not be so lavish, but he probably feels like he’s missed SO much, you know? It looks like this story is going to have a happy ending, and that’s what kids deserve.

- sarawara on

I agree that this party sounds a little over the top and I question his intentions, but what’s the big deal if parents want to throw a huge party for their child’s 1st birthday? My parents did the same thing when I was a year old… It was just a barbeque (not an expensive soiree), but they invited well over 100 guests. Everyone had a ball including myself! I wasn’t “overstimulated”… give me a break. My parents took tons of pictures at the party which I still treasure to this day… They got shots of me smashing cake in my face and playing with relatives (some of who died shortly afterwards so that was the last time they got to see me). I think it’s a great thing to do! Some of you have to stop being so uptight and live a little… lol. Also, I wouldn’t be so quick to suggest that your child won’t remember it. Maybe I’m the exception, but I definitely have memories of it… I have memories of things I did as young as 6 months old! You would be surprised what kids remember.

- Ash on

Geez, what’s he going to do for her wedding??

- daphneesmith on

I’m sure we’ll hear/see all about it when he sells the filming rights to Entertainment Tonight.

- Lorus on

Elaborate first birthday parties do matter, even if you don’t remember it. My parents did not have a first birthday party for me, but they had a big one for my elder sister. I still feel cheated. At least Dannielynn can look back and see the pictures of the major milestone.

- Dancer on

Good grief…if the man wants to have a big party and share it with the world, who cares? They have both been through hell over the past year…wouldn’t it be nice if she could look back at this year and have something fun and exciting to remember about 2007 besides the death of her mother and all the legal battle?

As far as pictures and interviews, a friend of mine interviewed him a few months ago (by the way, he was not paid a dime for the interview) and he told her that as a photographer and journalist himself he understands the desire and tries to be as cooperative as possible. He knows the interest will fade eventually. I think what’s important is that little girl is well taken care of and has a very proud father who wants to share her with the world. So what if he makes some money off of it? Isn’t he still being sued by the ex-lawyer?

I just love how everyone is so quick to judge without knowing all that goes on behind the scenes. I’m sure the same people would make a big fuss if he was out working all the time and she was always with a nanny.

- Sarah on

ITA Sarah why is it such a big deal if he throws his daughter a big birthday party, she will only 1 one once in her life, and after the year larry and dannielynn has had, who cares. He seems to adore his daughter, and what beaitiful pictures to show her in the future. I’m sure a lot of rich people have lavish parties, who cares, as long as they aren’t asking me for the money, that’s their business.

- gabriella on

Ughh. Larry is doing this 4 $. He sold the pic rights to Access Hollywood. Which is stupid. AcH isnt a magazine so how will paying a ridiculous amount of $ 4 the pics translate into ratings?

So stupid ! She is 1. Have a cake and balloons & that’s it!

Sarah’s note: Because people will tune in to see photos and video.

- lilkunta on

Dancer, are you serious? You seriously feel cheated because you didn’t get a first birthday party? Why?

- terri on

I don’t see the big deal…It’s his daughter! If he wants a big party, why not?
For goodness sakes! Who are we to judge? Good grief!

- tarssha on

Might as well take the free party and enjoy their 15 minutes while it lasts.

- chersolly on

I think it is very sweet for him to celebrate in an over the top way for her 1st birthday. The 1st birthday party is usually for the parents and the guests to celebrate the child’s first year of life…and big party or little party, she is not going to remember it, so what’s the big deal?

- Jennifer R on

Weirdly enough, even though I normally denounce lavish parties by the rich, on this occasion I can’t help but feel a party of this caliber would only be befitting of the occasion.

There’s a lot to celebrate, not just Dannilynn’s first year of life. Larry finally got his little girl, and in some ways, I think this is what Anna Nicole would have wanted.

- Xan on

How exciting!! I can’t wait to see the pictures!! =)

I agree with Sarah 100%!! if he wants to throw a big bday party for her only child and he can afford it, GO RIGHT AHEAD!!!

- Bren on

I’m on the laissez-faire side of the issue. I don’t know Larry, and all I can perceive is that he’s been through a hell of a lot to get to the point of celebrating Dannielynn’s first birthday with her.

I wonder if I can get on the guestlist of the par-tay? I grew up in that town, and apparently Larry transacted with my family’s business (a couple years ago, when he was just dating Anna Nicole). Look for me in the pictures!

- nona on

If Anna were still alive we all know that she would be doing the same thing & we would all want to see pictures. It may not be in Crestwood, KY but she would be throwing a bash to rival anything we’ve seen. And you know that Entertainment Tonight is putting out BIG $$ to film it, so why not go with it?

I have 3 children & their 1st birthdays are the ones that we had the biggest parties for. It REALLY is more for the parents & family & friends. I hope they have a great time!

- ~Beth~ on

Happy, Happy Birthday, Dannielynn!! You’ve been thru so much, so we all want to see good things and lots of love for this precious Angel…..Good job Larry…..

- jojo on

I’m glad he’s throwing her a big party. They’ve had a heck of a year and I’m sure Larry wanted something special for her 1st Birthday, and what better place to do it then the place when her parent fist meet. I’m glad he’s coming home to Louisville. Maybe I’ll see them out and about town…
They don’t get bothered here like they do in L.A.

- Carrie on

Hes doing it for 3 reasons

1/To pay mounting legal bills.
2/So he has direct evidence hes being a great father in case that ^&%^&^ Virgie Arthur
3/By releasing pics regularly, the paps leave him alone.

GO LARRY!

- preesi on

I look at it this way…..Larry has seen first hand more than once how short life can be and you need to live each moment to the fullest. I think this is more than just a 1st b-day celebration for him and Dannilynn, but I think it has to do with celebrating all they have made it through this first year. If he wants to share his happiness with the world than I say go for it!

- Gabbie13 on

Nicely put, Gabbie13!! Obviously Larry has every intention of enjoying every waking moment with his daughter, for whom he fought tooth and nail for his right to raise. Obviously this is a milestone for him, and she is his only daughter; maybe even the only child he’ll ever have, seeing as he says he has no intention of dating anytime soon.

- Nausicaa on

Happy 1st Birthday Dannielynn, although I totally shun publicity….you will always be in the news because of your DRUG ADDICTED/OVERIMPLANTED MOTHER…who didn’t give a “shit” about either you nor Daniel…who the TV displayed that you had not been in his life {until death!!!!…hmmm!!!}
DUE TO THE MANIPULATION OF ANS..HK$ SUCCUMBED TO HER WISHES…UNFORTUNATELY HK$ WANTED TO HAVE SEX WITH THE “SLUT”…DON’T THINK HE GOT BEYOND A “THOUGHTIE”..POX ON HIM FOR TOTALLY DELAYING THE TIME THAT LARRY SHOULD HAVE HAD TO BOND WITH HIS DAUGHTER!!!!
Now we have to endure “Nit-Picking” about this gorgeous baby…sooo many inuendoes that I personally would like to CHARGE HK$ with FRAUD and any other charges applicable. Sadly HK$ is a “sad-sack”…if he ever is going to get “A LIFE” {doubtfull} he should leave the Bahamas and try to practice law in the USA….hmmmm…Neither I nor you would employ him….sorry HK$, you hooked your penis to ANS who USED YOU like many…the outcome was little Dannielynn…GO LARRY!!!

- Jill from Western Australia on

Being a parent myself, if I had that kind of money to spend on my child’s birthday party – I would. So would most parents. Turning one is a huge deal and I say if Larry wants to spend a ton of money on his little girl – GREAT.

- Dianna on

Ah come on people, what is wrong in celebrating Dannilynn’s first birthday. In our family we always go way out on the first one. Of course we don’t have the money to make real elaborate but what the hell it you got flaunt it

- Eva on

I think she should have the biggest 1st Bday party ever. She is already a very special baby and has gone through so much in life without even knowing it. Her mom and brother are watching from above and this celebration is exactly what they both would want for their little angel. Props to Daddy!!!!!!!

- Diane on

will everybody stop critizing larry and his beautiful baby daughter, dannielynn????? im glad he’s keeping us informed about seeing dannielynn as she grows. if he wasn’t, then we wouldn’t be able to watch her grow!!!!! after he got custody of her, i feared that i wouldn’t see her again, so i thank larry for sharing her photos with us!

- brenda tingler on

i agree with preesi, you go larry!and on her 2nd bday, you do the same!may god bless you and dannielynn!

- brenda tingler on

I agree with a lot of the people and friends out there,Let Dannielynn have her 1st. birthday she will never have another one,so enjoy.Larry is doing every thing he can to make the baby happy,So glad Howard and his sister and Mrs. Gibson was there,Wish Howard all the best and hope he can go on with his life and find some happeness in his life Good Luck To Them All

- Zella Taylor on

Larry and Danielynn have been through a lot in the past year.
The death of Danielynn’s mother, the praternity and custody fight with Howard Stern, and now Anna’s mother is fighting him for custody of this little girl.
I just hope that for both of their sakes Larry will honor Anna’s wishes and not let Virgie see Danielynn until she’s emotionally stable enough to handle it because right now Virgie ain’t right.

- Celeste on

That’s awesome! If I had that kind of money to splurge on my kids, I would!
