Fred Savage doesn't have the heart to throw out breast milk

Fred Savage, whose son Oliver Philip was born August 5, 2006, and his wife, Jennifer Stone, moved into a new home in April of this year but the actor/director admits that there is only one thing on the wall in the living room so far.

It’s pretty bare right now, although for Father’s Day — it was myfirst Father’s Day in June, and my wife snuck Oliver away a few weeksin advance and had a photo shoot with her and Ollie. So the one thing– it’s not up, but it’s leaning against the wall — is the photo ofJenny and Oliver that she gave me for Father’s Day.

The 31-year-old admits though that with the move the family is trying to keep things from cluttering except for one thing…breast milk.

We’ve tried, particularly with the move, to clean out our freezer asmuch as possible because in the old house, it would get cluttered withso much crap. But the one thing we haven’t been able to throw away isthe breast milk — and we should, because it’s over 6 months old.You’re not supposed to keep it frozen for more than that…But Ijust don’t have the heart to because my wife worked so hard, she pumpedevery night — it was really hard on her to make this. So we probablyhave some breast milk from February.

I can totally relate! When my son was born 8 weeks premmy in September last year I had to pump every few hours in order to bring him breastmilk to hospital every day. It is hard work, like I’m no dairy cow so it took a few gos at getting a feeds worth! It is tiring and frustrating so its nice to hear Fred acknowledging it isn’t so easy as milking a cow!

I know how he and his wife feel! Obviously the people who came up with the saying “No use crying over spilled milk” never pumped breast milk only to find out the storage bag leaked during thawing!

I love this guy!!! So sweet he appreciates his wife so much.

I JUST threw away my breast milk this week and it was way overdue, so I can really relate. Luckily, I left the freezer door ajar and it all melted, so it had to go. Otherwise, I probably would have kept it for ten years. It took so much time and effort to pump (and I hated pumping) that I just couldn’t part with it.

That’s so sweet of him to realize how much work pumping is! I pumped exclusively for a year and I always got so upset when it spilled or it did go bad! Breast milk is liquid gold!

When we moved to our new house, we had to throw out the frozen breastmilk because even though Anya is still nursing, she’s old enough that she doesn’t need breastmilk when I’m away for a few hours. Also, it would have defrosted somewhat in the long car ride to our new place and you can’t refreeze breastmilk once it’s been thawed. It was very sad throwing it out. I wish I could have donated it somewhere.

What a sweetheart to actually know the expiration date of frozen breast milk (my husband asked me every single time how long can we keep this?)

And mostly to care that his wife worked hard to make it. So so sweet.
