Matt Damon says it's "not OK" to be apart from kids

MattDamon left daughter Isabella, now 14 months, behind for the first timelast winter when he went to Morocco for three weeks to shoot a scenefor The Bourne Ultimatum. Since then, Isabellahas traveled worldwide with her dad — save for a trip Down Under thismonth — but if the actor, 36, had his druthers, he would stay at home.

With a child, it’s instantly not OK to be away. There is something terribly wrong if I’m not with my kid. I can see how going on the road can work, provided you have a stable base.

He sounds like a great Dad. I saw him in an interview the other day – he said there will definitely be another baby before the next Bourne movie. Yay!

Aww, Matt sounds like a sweet dad! I love the way he talks about his family.

It’s laughable that Matt Damon says that, given that his current wife abandoned her own daughter for several weeks at a time so she could travel the world with Matt Damon. Did he or she or you ever stop to think about who’s raising that little girl? (Hint: it’s Lucy’s mom). In fact, Alexia didn’t accompany Matt, Lucy and Isabella on their most recent trip to Spain, nor to England for the Bourne premiere despite the fact that it’s still summer. Alexia was flown in and out on the same day for Matt and Lucy’s “faux wedding”. She was also excluded from Isabella’s first trip to NY and her only sibling’s first birthday celebration in NY. What Matt Damon really means is that “neglecting children is OK as long as it’s not my kid and not during pre-arranged photo ops.” This website is supposed to be pro-family or at the very least, pro-children. Does that proclamation specifically preclude step-children?

Follow Alexia for a day and you’ll come to understand the term “child neglect”.

I have always liked Matt Damon and he seems liek a really cool, down-to-earth kidn of guy. I’ve jsut notcied that Although his wife has another daughter- she is hardly mentioned in his posts- there is always reference to his daughter, Isabella and how great itis now that he is a dad and how difficult it is to be away from his daugher but no mention of Alexia (i think thats her name)
Does anyone else pick up on that or is it just my imaginatioN?

Sarah’s note: He mentions her quite a bit. We recently posted a story when he talks about taking her to school.
