Ryder Robinson and his pink balloon

Kate Hudson, 28, treats son Ryder Russell, 3 1/2, to a pink balloon — reported to be his favorite color — during an outing in Boston on Aug. 9. Dad is Chris Robinson.

I have 2 little boys and it may not be their fav colour, but they like pink too! It’s no biggie!

Also, Kate looks so much like Goldie in that pic!

Kate does look like goldie, and ryder looks like kate IMO.

I had to show this to my son, he is 10 now. His fav color in the whole world is pink! any color pink. While I admire him for not caring what others think I have to keep him from picking out things for school like a pink lunch box so the other 6th graders won’t tease the poor guy.

When we found out that our third child was a boy, my now 3 year old son moved from the smaller “yellow” room to the larger “pink” room that his sister had selected when we bought the house. When asked what color he wanted it painted, he said that he wanted it left pink!

Is kate pregnant? just noticing a little tum that is not normally there as she is in amazing shape! and the pink balloon no big thing, why is it ok for girls to have blue but not for boys to have pink?

Sarah’s note: I don’t think anyone thinks it’s a big deal — Raye’s caption comes from the scan of the photo.

I just wish she would get this little boy a real haircut. He always looks so messy and unkempt. “Homeless” is not a good look for chicldren.

I really don’t like seeing Kate Hudson on CBB. I think other mothers wouldn’t miss her if you stopped posting about her. She’s overrated and it bothers me (and I think at least some other mothers) to see Ryder with long hair.

Just my 2 cents.

Best,

Carole Ann (aka cats)

He shouldn’t be concerned that his favorite color is pink. He should be concerned that his mother apparently forgot her pants.

- Mags on

uh, did Kate forget to put on jeans/trousers? Or am I just old and a conservative dresser?

- m on

That shirt definitely makes her look pregnant but its probably just the shape of it.

- Natasha on

I’m with everyone else who thinks it’s no biggie that Ryder likes pink, my 4 year old sons favorite color is purple =) I don’t think whoever wrote this article for CBB meant anything by pointing out the color of the balloon, she was simply repeating the caption of the original article. Anyway what I really wanted to say is that it’s not the color of the balloon that struck me as odd, its’ the length of Kates dress!! Does anyone else that it’s really short especially for an outing with your child? She’s got gret legs but that is one short dress! Hope she didn’t have to bend over or down to tend to her son, lol.

They make a cute pair. Isn’t he a little young to be eating jawbreakers though? (assuming the mag’s caption is correct)

simply_bohemian, we have exactly the same situation with my 5 yr old son. His favourite colour is pink but it’s hard to keep him from the teasing he would endure

I love how when clothes hit the angle of a woman’s body in a different way, there are always sudden pregnancy questions.

Or, maybe Kate really IS pregnant and the pink balloon is a code for us readers that she is carrying a girl! ;)

I don’t think Kate looks pregnant, but it sure looks like she left her pants at home! That dress is REALLY short!!!! I like short skirts, but the dress kind of just looks like she put on her boyfriend’s shirt and a pair of boots to go outside and get the morning paper. Certainly not something I’d publicly walk around in.

There is nothing wrong with Ryder liking pink. I think most men look lovely in pink and I’m not really sure where this “pink is for girls” thing started, but I truly believe gender stereotyping is wrong and try to allow my own son to like/dislike whatever he wants without my own input. Good for Kate.

I love it when parents don’t try and push their kids into gender specific roles. Let kids be kids and choose the things they like. It won’t last long until societies pressure them to stop.

Why nobody say nothing when a girl dresses blue clothes?

Unhappily the world is very macho macho.

Good choice Ryder, pink rules! (for boys and girls!)

The little boy I watch is 3 1/2 and loves pink. He also likes girly toys more then boy toys. His mom jokes that she “always wanted a gay son and now she think she got one” but I tell her it’s normal for him to go through these phases. Ryder is young he may not like pink forever or he may. Either way it doesn’t mean anything. Unless the kid wants to start wearing pink lipstick or pink boas then I really don’t feel as though there is any kind of problem! There are grown men who will wear pink polo shirts and even my guy friend who is HUGE wears a shirt that says tough guys can wear pink too!

THE PINK MATCHES HIS HAIR

I JUST WANNA SAY I HAVE WORKED WITH PRESCHOOLERS AND I HAVE LEARNED IT IS NORMAL FOR BOYS TO LOVE THE COLOR PINK. WHO CARES WHAT OTHERS SAY. MAYBE THEY WON’T ADMIT THAT THEY LOVE IT TOO. WHEN THEY ARE OLDER AND START PLAYING WITH BARBIES AND WEARING MOMS LIPSTICK AND OTHER MAKEUP, THEN I WOULD WORRY. BUT RYDER IS ONLY 3. WHO KNOWS IF THATS THE COLOR HE LIKES. HE PROBABLY DOESN’T EVEN NO WHAT HIS FAVORITE COLOR IS ANYWAY, HE’S STILL VERY YOUNG. IT’S LIKE SAYING BOYS/MEN CAN’T BE EMOTIONAL. C’MON THEY HAVE FEELINGS TOO. OMG GET REAL PEOPLE! LEAVE THE POOR CHILD ALONE.
