Pop Stroller by Silver Cross: Pop Around Town

Img_1076_7

The Pop by legendary English Pram company, Silver Cross, is so named because you could "pop" out to the stores, "pop" out for coffee or even "pop" out to the park. Silver Cross lent me their "Pop" Stroller, part of their lifestyle collection, in Jet for a test drive. Ben and I loved it.

The suspension is very similar to a Maclaren Stroller – whose suspension I consider a proper standard for an umbrella stroller. Your child will be just as comfortable for long walks as they will be for short jaunts in this stroller. I tested the "long walk" out several times this week. This lightweight stroller only weighs 13 pounds and is just a dream to fold up and put in my car’s trunk. Especially since I am 5 months pregnant now, a lighter stroller makes a huge difference in comfort for me. And did I mention the pattern and stroller are cute!!

2500pbpop_black_sideviewl_copy With a stroller this functional and this light, you’ve got to travel on the subway or bus! Since I always have such heavy strollers, I prefer to take the Long Island Rail Road into NYC – so I don’t have to deal with stairs, carrying the stroller and my child (plus all his paraphanalia). But with the light Pop, and as Ben approaches 2 years old, I could take the subway. I could just fold the Pop up and carry it on my shoulder, while carrying him or holding his hand.

Proper weight for stroller use can be from birth to 40 lbs. The FULL recline is awesome, but I have one of those children who WON’T nap in a stroller. Personally, I don’t know if I would feel comfotable with a baby under 3 months in any umbrella stroller (I would use a bassinet/carrycot attached to one of my other strollers or even the car seat/stroller frame combo). But after the baby is 3 months and my son is in nursery school then for most of the time, I could see us dropping her off using the Pop.

During our long walk this week, the only part of him that got sun was his legs (which were sunscreened). He did slump a little, but I think I need to tighten the shoulder and waist straps a little more. My tall (over 6 foot) father-in-law loved the ergonomic handles and said it was a proper height for him to be comfortable walking around with it. No wheels were kicked! The shopping basket is a typical umbrella basket, it worked fine. I was able to stuff a lot of things into it. The stroller comes with a rain shield. You can also get additional acessories for extra (infant headrest, footmuff and parasol).

The main page of our site has also shown many pictures of celebrity babies in their Silver Cross Strollers. Silver Cross is a long time favorite of the English Royal Family and many U.S. and U.K. celebrities, such as Gwyneth Paltrow (daughter Apple rode in a Silver Cross), Elizabeth Hurley, Brooke Shields, Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick, own Silver Cross Strollers, as well Maggie Gyllenhaal (whose daughter Ramona is often riding in her Silver Cross Linear Freeway), Jennie Garth (her youngest daughter, Fiona also rocked the Linear Freeway. Debra Messing, Denise Richards and Jen Garner all own the lightest weight Silver Cross Stroller, the Micro.

Dad Said It

"Harper was a name that we've loved for a long time for a couple of reasons. Harper is an old English name, and Victoria's favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird."
