Lisa Marie Presley duets with her daddy
Lisa Marie Presley couldn’t help but to shed tears as she heard her technologically enhanced duet, a remake of In The Ghetto, with her late father, rock legend Elvis Presley. The 39-year-old tells Spinner.com,
We had two hours to lay down my vocals. So the next morning, I heard the rough…and…I’ve never cried when I’ve done anything…ever…but I just lost it when I heard it.
Lisa Marie tells USA Today that she thinks her father would be proud of her tribute to him.
I do think this idea would mean a lot to him. Singing this particular duet with him was more emotional for me than anything I’d done before. I wanted to focus on something important, and not just do something silly.
August 16 marks the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death. Lisa Marie previously recorded a duet version of her father’s song, Daddy Don’t Cry, for the 20th anniversary, but it was never released commercially. This time the single will be made available on iTunes with proceeds going to the New Orleans branch of Presley Place. Presley Place, which originated in Memphis, houses homeless families temporarily as they move into permanent housing.
Lisa Marie admitted that as the daughter of the King of Rock ‘n Roll, a lot of pressure is placed on her, including recording another tribute duet with her dad.
People have been asking me to do another duet with him forever, but I had to do my own thing before I went back there. So I was ready. I just had to figure out what would be right. And suddenly it came to me, all at the eleventh hour.
The video for the "In The Ghetto" duet will be available for viewing Friday at Spinner.com.

Nisha’a Note: As a native Memphian in the city right now, I can tell you that everyone is crazed with Elvis mania. I work for a local TV station and we are currently covering the chaos at Graceland, where in a few short hours more than 75,000 fans will join in for a candlelight vigil. People are here from all over America, Canada and even Europe. They are camping out in 106 degree weather (one woman has already died) just to celebrate the King’s death anniversary. And of course there are celebs, including Lisa Marie Presley (who is conducting multiple interviews under a tent with a national press junket), her mother Priscilla Presley and Larry King from Larry King Live. We also had a visit from racecar driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and his grandmother! The reverence people have for Elvis Presley is real and I am currently in the middle of all of the chaos! You can watch the LIVE from Graceland special and more at WMCTV.com.
