Heidi Klum shares how she keeps in shape after three kids

08/15/2007 at 06:21 PM ET

Supermodel Heidi Klum, 34, has become the new model for Jordache Jean Company, and says that it’s her kids, Leni, 3; Henry, 23 months; and Johan, 8 1/2 months, who keep her in shape. On how she got back her pre-baby body less than a year after having Johan, Heidi told People,

I have three children. That keeps you busy all the time. I work and we do a lot of things that are active. We work in the garden. We jump on the trampoline. I just started playing tennis with my husband. We climb in the tree house with the children. We go to the park and feed the ducks. We are always mobile.

Heidi is married to musician Seal, 44.

Heidi looks great, but besides doing stuff with the kids though, she gets in shape by working out and eating good. Seal said in a health magazine, how both him and heidi are health nuts and not only eat healthy food and work-out at least 5 times a week, they try not to have a big meal later than 3pm. So yea running after 3 kids helps, but there’s also the basic way most celebrities and people in general do it, by working out and watching what you eat.

I’m surprised Heidi would make such a comment. She has repeatedly declared that she got back into shape with David Kirschs “New York Body Plan”. She has given many interviews where she said that she worked out 4-5 days a week and ate a special diet. She even had her picture taken with David and helped promote his book. When she had to be getting back on the runway for VS modelling underwear just two months after Henry was born, she credited her post-baby body to the NYBP and David Kirschs help.
So why pretend now all of a sudden that it’s just gardening and playing with the kids?

I agree with the above. It’s hard for celebs who have great bodies to be honest either way, though. I mean, people hate it when models (like Gisele Bunchen, for example) say things like, “I never work out and I eat steak for breakfast.” Though it might be the truth, people who work hard at keeping in shape and still don’t look as good resent that.

At the same time, whenever a celeb says that although they have kids they work out several times a week, with a trainer, and have a personal chef making them custom meals, it also grates ones nerves. Normal people don’t have these benefits and it’s easy to be jealous of a celeb for both answers.

Overall, though, I think Heidi’s being quiet about her aforementioned heavy workouts/strict diet plan. I don’t doubt the kids keep her mobile, but she clearly does more than that.

Running after three kids is hard work. I also run after three kids under the age of 4, but my body isn’t the way it was before I had kids. But Anna, a part of it is because of the kids..

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
