Dave Grohl's daughter Violet likes to rock

Dave_grohl_070807_01_cbbDave Grohl of the Foo Fighters is a rocker by nature and it appears that his daughter, Violet Maye, with wife, Jordyn, is taking after her father.  In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Dave, 38, shared Violet’s love of music when asked what was on his playlist by stating,

At this point, though, it’s whatever my daughter can dance to. And shehas kickass taste in music. She doesn’t go for Wiggles or Barneybullshit. She digs Amy Winehouse and she loves the Cars.

I put on a Mastodonrecord the other day and she started dancing to that. I immediatelyturned it off, thinking, ‘I don’t know if I like the fact that you’resixteen months and into thrash metal. You’re growing up a little tooquick for me, honey.’

That is too funny! I remember when I was pregnant with my daughter my husband was on a ZZ Top kick and after she was born…ZZ Top was the ONLY music that she would fall asleep to. With my son…it was The Little Mermaid. Her voice just put him right to sleep and if I would sing it to him also. Nobody else though.

That’s too funny. You never know what music kids are going to fall in love with. My 18-month-old godson loves the music in the movie Cars, and whenever “Real Gone” by Sheryl Crow or “Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts comes on, he starts rocking back and forth and clapping his hands while staring intently at the screen. It is completely precious.

I can totally picture Violet rocking out and singing the chorus to “Rehab,” lol!

That is too cute! He really seems to love being a Dad. And I’m sure Violet loves having such a cool dad.

Ha ha! That is too funny! My son absolutely LOVES Johnny Cash and can sing almost all the words to “Walk the Line” and “Ring of Fire”..it’s really cute to watch! He was never into Barney or the Wiggles either..or any of those other singing groups for kids. When he was first born I used to play my Monster Ballads CD (it has all of the ballads from the 80′s hair metal bands-my faves!!) and that would put him right to sleep. Ironically, that is the kind of music I have always loved and when I was about 5 months pregnant and my best friend was almost 6 months pregnant our hubby’s took us to see the Poison/Cinderella/Faster Pussycat concert and I could feel my son kicking the whole time and she could feel her daughter kicking the whole time. :0)
