Rumor: Christina Aguilera to perform at Emmys

08/13/2007 at 10:49 PM ET

Songstress Christina Aguilera, 26, may keep us waiting — until September 16th, to be exact — to officially announce that she’s with child. According to E!’s Mark Malkin, rumor has it that she’ll be re-teaming with crooner Tony Bennett, 81, on-stage that evening at the Emmys for a duet of ‘Steppin Out With My Baby,’ which they first performed together last November. Perhaps the high-profile event may be the perfect time to affirm (by word or by belly) that a baby is on its way? Of course, we’re hoping for an official confirmation sooner rather than later!

A rep said that she could not confirm Christina’s schedule. Performance or not, we hear Christina and husband Jordan Bratman expect their own production the first week of January 2008.

I think you mean January 2008 is when Christinas’ baby is due.

I think you wanted to write January 2008 and not 2007.

I can’t wait for the performance between those two. Hmm maybe she’s keep mum on the whole pregnancy until she gives birth..lol Which I doubt, she’s a petite woman so her belly will be sticking out if it hasn’t already. I can’t wait for her to announce it! She’s going to be a great mom.

How nice she will be at the emmys. Looks like pregnancy, isn’t slowing her down at all.

Okay, THAT’S a cool way to tell folks you’re pregnant!!!

I love Christina and would really like to see this duet – but if this is her way of announcing her pregnancy to the world, I think it kind of smacks of cheesiness and self-importance. Just confirm the pregnancy in a normal way and let your fans congratulate you already! No need for a big, staged announcement IMO. I’m always happy for an excuse to see her perform though…

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
