Update: Matt Leinart and Brynn Cameron reach custody deal

Update: An agreement was reached in less than 10 minutes. The terms were not disclosed, but according to TMZ,

The former couple will share joint legal and physical custody. Brynnwill have primary custody, but Matt will have substantial contact withhis 10-month-old son, Cole. Under the temporary agreement,which lasts through football season, Matt will fly to L.A. every Mondayand spend 24 hours with Cole. On alternate weekends, Brynn will flywith Cole to Arizona the night before Matt’s games — Matt will spendthe evening before the game and the day of with his son.

Under the settlement, while one parent has the child, the other can’tvisit Cole uninvited.

Underthe deal, Brynn, a basketball player for USC, can travel with Coleduring her season.

A source close to the case confirmed what was previously reported; child support issues were resolved ‘a couple of weeks ago’ and today’s hearing was regarding custody arrangements only. Ron Rale, an attorney for Brynn — who was reported as upbeat as she waited with family and friends — said,

We’re trying to reach a settlement.

Matt did not show in court. Instead, his attorney Laura Wasser (who is also Britney Spears’ divorce lawyer) was on hand. A source close to Matt told People last month,

He only wants to spend time with his little boy, that’s it. He flies in from Arizona every week to see his baby. [Brynn's] a great mom, he has nothing bad to say about her.

Reps for Matt and Brynn had no comment.

I am glad they have come to an agreement, but why couldn’t he be there? I agree, that it seems like football practice has come first for Matt, however, I hope it isn’t true. I hope both parents do what is right for the child.

I personally think it sounds like they were very mature about it and just needed to make it official. Who knows why he wasn’t there, but how many celebrities actually show up at court things anyway?

They both sound like they want to do what’s best for there son, and they’re doing just that.

So does this mean that when Brynn flies to Arizona on alternate weekends that she can’t even be around Cole unless Matt says so? That’s interesting. She did agreed to it though. I am glad that they seemed to have worked it out.

Actually, it seems he has been very careful not to say anything negative about Brynn – which I think is really important for the baby. I give him credit for that. I hate when parents “trash” each other in public – especially celebrities – since it will always be around for the child to read later in life. I’m glad they are working together for Cole’s sake.

Football practice is part of his job, people, don’t trash Matt for going to work and not being in court (when he probably wasn’t needed anyways).

I’m really surprised by the hatefulness (towards Matt) of the above comments. All he is trying to do is have more time with his son. It sounds like they worked things out nicely.

I really don’t like the whole “man= automatically bad, woman=automatically good” assumption here.

I don’t feel bad for either parent. Sure, they’re inconvenienced, but the KID is going to be shuttled around like a piece of luggage.

I personally think in cases like this, the parents should buy a neutral home, and that’s the KID’S home. Then the PARENTS take turn shuffling in and out, so the KID actually has a HOME, not just houses to visit. Why should an innocent little kid be dragged around all over the place because his parents couldn’t get their act together before they had him?

I agree there seems to be a real bias against men on here. Just because the woman carries the child and gives birth doesn’t always make her “right”. Should Matt marry Brynn just because she had his child? NO. Matt has a job and if Brynn went back to work (basketball), nobody would say anything against her. It looks like they worked out the details of custody between the two of them and Brynn obviously agreed to it. Of course Matt isn’t going to be able to spend as much time with the baby as Brynn. CUSTODY IS USUALLY AWARDED TO THE MOTHER. Should Matt just immediately quit his career and move closer to Brynn and the baby???

It’s the same with the Bridget/Tom situation. Everyone seems to be at fault except Bridget. How do you know she wasn’t hard to get a long with? And to those of you blaming Gisele, do you think Tom would have stayed with her if he didn’t want to? How do you know Tom hasn’t been supportive of her during her pregnancy? I just don’t understand all the man-hating on here.
