Retraction: Angelina Jolie quotes were fabricated
Update 3:45 pm: Sarah’s note: We’ve been made aware that the quotes in Missy’s article below were completely fabricated by OK! magazine UK and Angelina never said any of it. She nursed Shiloh until some point in 2007 — she remarked in June that she had ‘just‘ finished breastfeeding.
Although we did mark the post as rumor as soon as we became aware that Monsters & Critics was not the original source, once we learned it was entirely false, we wanted to post a retraction. As you know, we always strive to present the correct information, and will amend any mistakes we do make. We apologize for any confusion.
Originally posted 1:50 pm: Angelina Jolie reportedly revealed recently that she nursed her daughter Shiloh for 3-months, and that she found the act of breastfeeding to be "hard" because of a demanding work schedule and because, she says,"I hate to sit still."
Idid it for about three months and that was it. I don’t sit stillwell. I ended up walking around a lot with her when I was doing it.
I was pregnant when (we) were preparing ‘A Mighty Heart’. I hadShiloh, then I breastfed, then I did the film. I was breastfeeding butI could only do so much. It’s hard. It was much harder than beingpregnant.
As for recommendations by the United Nations that women breastfeed for two years, Angelina apparently noted that "in Africa they don’t have many alternatives and the water is not safe so I guess it makes sense to breastfeed for two years."
Shiloh, 14-months, is Angelina’s child with partner Brad Pitt.
