Emma Bunton and Jade Jones welcome a son

Spice Girl Emma Bunton, 31, and singer Jade Jones, 27, welcomed their first child on Friday morning. Son Beau Lee was born at 11:12 am, weighing in at 7 lbs, 15 oz — the same weight Jade was at birth. Outside the hospital, Jade said,

I’m over the moon. Heis absolutely brilliant, and both baby and Emma are doing fine. In factEmma is tucking into some flapjacks and Coca-Cola as we speak. We are both absolutely delighted and can’t wait to take Beau home.

Later today, he added,

He is a very lovely boy. His name is French for handsome and he is definitely very handsome. He is just gorgeous. Emma is upstairs doing really well, just recovering and bonding with the baby. Both are having a little nap right now. I’m just pleased to have our little baby boy with us. I’m over the moon. I don’t want to miss a single second without him. He looks a bit like both of us actually, so he’s a very lucky boy. The birth still feels like a minute ago. It’s an amazing feeling, which I can’t describe.

Emma and Jade had not found out the sex before the delivery, but thought they were having a girl. They have been together for 8 years.

Yay! Congratulations to them! I certainly ate my fill after my daughter was born…birthing a baby really makes you hungry!

I’m surprised they had a boy…I thought, for some reason, they would have a girl. Seems like everyone’s having boys these days!

Beau is a lovely name. Mimi, it does seem as though everyone is having boys! No matter though, baby boys are so much fun with their cars and their trucks!

Although I totally understand why parents would want to know the sex of their baby, I love it that some still opt to wait. There’s something special and exciting about the anticipation!

“Beau”… This name sounds so weird for a French!!! It means “beautiful” in French. It’s if like your name was “Gorgeous” or “Pretty”…
Maybe it’s fashion in Britain to give the baby a French word for name… Anyway, I’m happy for them and I wish them the best for their family.

congrats to them, I thought she was having a boy too. Boys are popular this year it seems. My grandma used to say odd years bring boys, while even years tend to bring more girls.

Congratulations Emma and Jade! I can’t imagine how happy she feels finally meeting Beau after her trouble with endometriosis. I’ve had endometriosis for a few years now and it’s so uplifting to know there’s still hope to have a baby.

gabriella, i have to agree with your grandma! my mom had 6 kids. 3 boys, 3 girls. all girls were born on even years, the boys all on odd years. thats how we knew the last two were going to be boys!

Beau is handsome and Belle is beautiful in French. I like the name.

My daughter was born in the year of boys (2001). We thought she was a boy (we didn’t find out) and her kindergarten class will have a 4:1 boy-girl ratio. Crazy!

I’m impressed they have been together so long. And I know just what he means about having your first child. It’s so special.
