Vanessa Simmons wins a role on Guiding Light

Vanessa Simmons, the daughter of Joseph "Reverend Run" Simmons of Run DMC, has been cast on the television daytime drama Guiding Light. She will portray a character named Lola and will first appear on August 21.

The 24-year-old can currently be seen on MTV’s Run’s House, a reality show based on her father and family. In an episode that aired in June, it showed Vanessa auditioning for Guiding Light.

Vanessa is the oldest child for Reverend Run. He is also the father to daughter Angela and son Joseph "JoJo" from his first marriage.  He and his wife, Justine Simmons, have sons Daniel "Diggy" and Russell "Russy." The couple also had a daughter, Victoria Anne, who died shortly after her birth in September 2006.

I figured she’d gotten the role when she got the callback and she let out a scream. Even if they didn’t say or show it, it was obvious that she was elated over getting a part on the show.

I’m happy for her, and I may just have to see what she gets up to in Springfield. ;)

Did they ever adopt? I watched the newest season of Run’s House, and they had an adoption case worker there, but I haven’t heard anything yet.
