Confetti

When my toddler Ben takes his bath these days, you’ll find Flower Peddler’s Garden Bugz Kid Care products in our tub. Aimed at children 2-10, the Garden Bugz Kid Care is a bath and body line that is fun and fresh.

We loved the confetti bubble bath ($7.50) in fish ocean scent – its made of little chips of bubble bath that dissolve when held under warm, running water to form soft bubbles. It’s packaged in a cute little plastic take-out container with enough for 4 – 6 baths. We found it actually lasted longer than that. This would work well in a birthday party goody bag- the cost is reasonable, it will encourage kids to bathe and its not candy, so kids (and even parents) are going to have fun with it. Ben went through a phase where he screamed everytime I put him in the bath, so anything that would encourage him to have fun in the bath is a winner in my book. The confetti bubble bath also comes in kiwi mango, strawberry, baby powder, rain scent, rose, lavender and lilac (not pictured).

Another fun product we tested was the Ladybug bath bomb ($6.95) in the goofy green apple scent. It smelled yummy and Ben loved seeing it fizz away in the tub. No bubbles, but we enjoyed the "show"! It also made his skin softer! You can also get the bath bomb in a bumble bee shape and it also comes in groovy graple (a combination of summer blueberry and sweet grapes) and wawamelon (smells just like the delicious hard candy).

Flower Peddler is a small, family-owned business located near Richmond, Virginia. The Keiper family began their business as a floral design service. According to their website, "We’ve always had a love for things that smell, or perhaps we should say, fragrant things. So maybe a bath product line wasn’t that big a leap." Being the curious creatures that we were, we began to read about aromatherapy, herbs, and essences and then research the powerful connection between our sense of smell and its impact on our emotions. Not long after came a visit to a craft show where a very knowledgeable soap maker had her beautiful herbal soaps on display. It was then that something just clicked for us. Here was a way for us to combine our love of nature with our newfound interest in natural body care. After much research and a lot of experimentation on willing friends and family, the Flower Peddler Bath Product line was born."

Owner, Michele Keiper also added, "We have several family members who have had health concerns, including my mother who had breast cancer and one of my children, who has autism. They have really influenced the direction our company has taken and made us more aware of environmental factors that impact our lives everyday."

Keiper also told us, "We are making a lot of effort to be as “green” a company as possible. In house we print on recycled paper. We re-use, re-purpose, and recycle everything possible. We use energy-saving lighting and environmentally-friendly cleaning products. We obtain clean, usable packaging peanuts from local companies who are usually very eager to donate them. We help out the businesses by taking the peanuts off their hands which allows us to extend the life cycle of the packaging materials and keep them out of the landfill a little longer."

This Mechanicsville, Virginia company has some natural, very reasonable products that you are going to love. Grab some items for yourself- their spa essentials line looks wonderful, as well as your babies- they’ve got a great organic baby line and kids (we told you about the Garden Bugz Line). Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
