I love Walter the farting dog! It's still one of my 6yo's favourites.

We had a funny series when we were growing up- the "Where did I come from?" books by Peter Mayle (the same guy who did "A Year in Provence", etc. "Where did I come from?" was obviously about conception and birth- there's nothing overly explicit in there about sex - certainly no sex pics. But we also had "What's happening to me?", which was about puberty, and "Will I go to heaven?". There was even a "How to be a Pregnant father" book. I think there's also a "Will I like it?" book about your first sexual experience, but we didn't have that one.

These books were just around the house and part of the regular collection, so none of the stuff in there became a big deal or a "big" discussion, we just always knew where babies come from, etc.

Our current favorite read, Mucumber McGee and the Half Eaten Hot Dog. It has an illustration style similar to Edward Gorey and the moral of the story, it is best to ask mom before getting a snack out of the fridge.
