Rumor: Brian McFadden turns to courts for full custody of kids

The squabble between Brian McFadden and Kerry Katona over custody of their children — Molly, 5 1/2 and Lily-Sue, 4 1/2 — has spilled over into the British legal system.  The ex-couple squared off yesterday in court over claims by Brian’s mom Mairead McFadden that the children would be better off living with her full-time in Ireland.  Mairead has been caring for the girls ever since Kerry’s home in Cheshire was the scene of an armed robbery two weeks ago.  Although only Kerry, her husband Mark Croft and their 5 1/2-month-old daughter Heidi Elizabeth were home at the time of the attack, the robbers held Kerry and Heidi at knife-point — and that is enough for Mairead and Brian to seek full custody of Molly and Lily-Sue, the mother and son said.  Said a source:

[Brian] is not trying to persecute Kerry. But his whole family are concerned for the girls’ well-being after the break-in. They have tried to talk to Kerry but all she does is scream and cry and shout down the phone.  Communication has completely broken down. They just want what is best for the girls.

According to reports Kerry has not seen her daughters for nearly one month, nor has she spoken to them in the last two weeks, unaware even that Lily recently suffered from chicken pox.

Imagine how upset she was to know Lily had been sick and didn’t have her mum to comfort her.  All she has been sent in the last few weeks is texts from Mairead telling her the kids should be with her.

A ruling in the dispute is forthcoming.

I don’t think it is fair to say she is unfit simply cause people broke it to her house. How is that her fault? It is not like she let them is, not only that the girls weren’t there. Also He is a celebrity too doesn’t that make him at risk for brake-ins too. I HOPE there are other things going on that warrent this worry and action.

Jo, the rumor is that Kerry is a coke addict (and even allegedly did coke while pregnant with her youngest baby!) and she met her current husband because he was her drug dealer. The break-in was supposedly related to some bad grudge that her husband’s old associates had. I have no idea how much of this is true, but that would freak me out as a parent.

If I were the father of those girls, I would want them out of that situation until Kerry gets herself cleaned up.

Thanks PSB, the article made no mention of the alleged drug use. It just made it sound like they were going for custody because of the actual break-in, not the motivation behind it.

“Jo, the rumor is that Kerry is a coke addict”

That is truth, not a rumor. Kerry became a cocaine and alcohol addict after splitting from Brian and eventually had to enter rehab because of her addictions. I can’t speak to whether Mark was a drug dealer, but I do believe the break-in was related to Kerry’s drug abuse-why would robbers choose their home over any of the others on the block? I’ve always thought the girls would be better off with Brian, and I hope he does take full custody of them.
