Ruby Reynolds makes her television debut
In an extended segment on this morning’s Good Day LA, new mom Jillian Barberie Reynolds became visibly moved as she described the whirlwind of emotions she felt upon meeting her daughter Ruby Raven, 4-weeks, for the first time. Jillian, who was adopted, cried so hard during the delivery her husband Grant said he thought she was actually having a seizure. Recalled Jillian:
I couldn’t talk. I was thinking about my birth mom, how they put me on her for five minutes and then took me away forever, and I didn’t meet her again for 34-years. It made me so emotional.
Jillian said that she cannot bear to be apart from Ruby, whom the couple say is a very easy baby.
We’re loving it, I have to tell you. This is the greatest time of my life. It’s pretty awesome…I never thought I was going to have this.
Parenthood has been equally well-received by Grant, who said the transition from bachelor to married dad has been "a real simple evolution."
I haven’t tried to fight it too much. I count my blessings every time I look at her, and she’s finally starting to look me in the eye. God, it just melts you.
Jillian says that she is not feeling sleep-deprived yet, despite the rigors of breastfeeding a newborn. While she nurses she likes to look around the room and see the various gifts Ruby has received from her fans. Although she appears to have a solid breastfeeding relationship with Ruby now, like many new moms, Jillian at first found herself wondering "where’s the manual?"
I couldn’t get her latched, I’m bawling, I’m thinking ‘I’m the most inadequate mother there is,’ ‘I can’t breastfeed her properly.’ And then she latched on and hasn’t come off since.
Ruby is the first child for the couple, who have been married since July 2006.
