Christina Aguilera cancels two shows; Mom appears to confirm pregnancy

Citing a ‘bad flu virus,’ pop star Christina Aguilera has been forced to cancel her two remaining Melbourne, Australia concerts.  In a statement to would-be concert-goers, Christina said she was "truly disappointed that I won’t be able to share my show with you all."  A concert promoter adds,

Christina has a viral upper respiratory tract infection with a high fever and abnormal coughing…[she has been] prescribed complete bed rest for the next few days.

Meanwhile Christina’s mom Shelly, while emailing with a concerned fan, provided confirmation of what CBB has reported since mid-June — That Christina is, indeed, pregnant.  After thanking the fan "for being so caring," Shelly said "let everyone know she & baby are just fine."

The baby is believed to be due in early Jan. 2008, and is the first for Christina and husband Jordan Bratman.

I knew she was pregnant I’m just glad her mum has confirmed this. Poor Christina for having to cancel 2 shows!

I immediately tensed when I read this article, knowing how dangerous the flu is to an unborn baby…. I certainly hope she makes a full recovery and that they can be completely assured that the baby is well. Get well Christina!

I hope she gets better soon. I can’t wait until this tour is over so she can rest and take care of herself. Her and Jordan seem like they will be such great parents, like they will be loving and caring and accepting and open minded. :)

Maybe it isn’t so much as the “flu” as it is morning sickness and not wanting to say that or saying “Hey, I’m pregnant, confirmed, morning sickness now” etc.etc.

Sarah’s note: Maybe, but apparently a lot of her crew has the flu too!

i hope she feels better soon.. she is about as far along as I am now and I hope her and the baby are ok as she seems pretty sick according to a few sites. I’m excited for her and her hubby- they are a great couple and I think they will be wonderful parents- get well Christina!

If she’s in her 4th month she’s probably past the worst of her morning sickness. I trust that she has the same flu that many in Australia are fighting. It is winter there. She needs some warm California sun!
