Update: A son for Killers frontman Brandon Flowers

Update: Brandon and Tana have named their son Ammon. The name, of Greek and Egyptian origin, is featured twice in the Book of Mormon, and is believed to be where Brandon and Tana drew their inspiration from.

Of fatherhood, Brandon told The Herald Sun,

It’s obviously a life-changing experience and it’s a remarkable thing -–I have prepared myself for this. I would chop my fingers off for mybaby and I never really felt like that for anyone really.

Originally posted July 16th: The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, 26, and his wife Tana welcomed their first child, a son, on Saturday, July 14th. No further details have been released.

Congrats to Brandon and his wife! With any luck, his son will look just as good as Brandon does in makeup. I love me a hot man in eyeliner. What can I say, I’m an 80s holdover.

Oh, wow…my brother-in-law is named Ammon, and I had never heard of that name til I met him. And yes, he is Mormon.

I didn’t realize they were LDS. My cousin had a baby around the same time (maybe even the same day!) and named him Ammon, too. How bizarre is that?! It’s also the name of a town in Idaho.

I am so happy for Brandon and Tana, I love the Killers and Brandon is gorgeous lol

I hope the little one is healthy and happy and has his daddy’s charm =]

Ammon (pronounced A-mmon) was a characteristic given to the mythological god Zeus in greek (he was called Ammon Zeus) and it had to do with some part of mythology during which Zeus had some adventures in Egypt.

Sorry I can’t remember more!

Congratulations!

I absolutely ADORE Brandon and The Killers so I am thrilled that your life cant get any better!

I hope the son is a looker like his dad and i wonder if he will inherit any talent too!

As for the name, Ammon, its different and it has some sort of class about it!

But for sure I have never heard of it before in my life till now! :)

Ammon is pronounced with a short /a/ as in ant. It’s a really common male name in Utah and Idaho. My in-laws actually live in Ammon, ID which is right next to Idaho Falls. Ammon is the hero of my favorite story in The Book of Mormon.
