Billy Ray Cyrus' new album hits stores while his daughter's album is currently No. 1

Billy Ray Cyrus is learning that when it comes to his little girl Miley, 14, he has some stiff competition. Billy was with Miley on July 4th when she found out her album had reached No. 1 on three different Billboard charts. Of his daughters achievement, Billy said proudly,

I freaked out! It was all over the internet! Then I saw that someone had written ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.’

Now, the father/daughter duo are waiting to see if Billy Ray’s album will do just as well. Billy Ray’s new album, Home at Last, hit stores yesterday. The first single off the record, "Ready, Set, Don’t Go," was written for Miley when she first set off to Hollywood two years ago. Billy explained,

It was time for me to let my little girl go.

Miley says that it’s her Dad’s advice that keeps her grounded and gives her the success she has attained thus far in her career.

He said, you gotta learn to crawl before you can walk, and learn to walk before you can run.’ That helped me more than anything he has ever told me. I’m still learning, I’m still crawling.

Let his little girl ‘go’? When she was at the age of twelve back then? No matter how mature or strong-minded she was, when your child is twelve you are still very much the guardian and guide for your child as far as I’m concerned. Making concessions for the child’s wishes is obviously important, but at twelve that means getting them enrolled in acting classes, or considering moving them to a drama school of their choice, or taking them to auditions for local theatre, not letting them run off to Hollywood. She should have been in school!
Miley seems like a nice girl but I hate to see how stylised she is, both on her show and at public events. I think it projects an unrealistic image for little girls, who are already facing a lifetime of being told what they should wear and how they should look. Having an idol their age or just a couple of years older, who always looks picture-perfect and high-fashion with bleached hair and makeup, I just don’t think that can be good for them. I know a lot of people will probably disagree with me and think it’s all harmless fun, but that’s simply not what I believe. I wouldn’t let my fourteen-year-old go out in public wearing the outfit Miley’s got on in the photo up there, that’s for certain. I wouldn’t be happy if my eighteen-year-old went out in it to be honest.

well then sabina that’s where parents step in and raise their little girls with their morals and set whatever self image they want for their kids.. this obviously works for them so I don’t see why they need to mold their lifestyle to fit everyone else’s. I strive to look picture-perfect all the time because that is what I like to do. What is so wrong with not wanting to walk out of the house looking a hot mess?
Miley did not go to Holywood by herself obviously. How do you know she isn’t tutored or something similar?
