Brooke Burke talks about 'being okay with the chaos'
As mom to three little girls, Brooke Burke recognizes the unique opportunity she’s been given. In a new interview with ModernMom, Brooke says that more than anything she’d like to teach Neriah, 7, Sierra Sky, 5 and new baby Heaven Rain, 6-months "self-respect and the confidence to explore and succeed at new things."
I expect them to be generous and appreciative of the privileges they have. Manners are high on our list of priorities. I teach them to be kind. I discipline them through structure and I use a point reward system.
The young family, which includes Brooke’s partner and Rain’s father, actor David Charvet, are currently building their dream home, and the 35-year-old former host of CBS’s reality series Rock Star: Supernova and the E! travel series Wild On admits things have been hectic. The key to balancing home and work, Brooke says, is learning how to be "okay with the chaos."
I try to schedule my professional priorities around my family’s needs. I have been really fortunate to have support from different networks while raising my first two girls. When Neriah (now 7) was a baby, she traveled to 40 countries — wherever I hosted Wild On. I never went anywhere with out her. We were a "package deal.” With Sierra (5), I was hosting a show in Los Angeles, and she was always on set with me.
Rain, my youngest, has been the luckiest of all: she has her mommy at home. I have not been working on a show since she was born so she is getting me full time. When I do have appointments, I often bring her with me. I try to limit my time away from her.
