Kate Beckinsale, Len Wiseman and Lily Sheen pick up Harry Potter book in Santa Monica

Just like many other parents did on Saturday, Kate Beckinsale, takes daughter, Lily Sheen, 8 1/2, to pick up her copy of the final installment in the Harry Potter series, on Saturday in Santa Monica. With them is Kate’s husband, Len Wiseman. Lily’s father is Michael Sheen.

The little independent bookstore around the corner held a party with the kids dressing up, etc. They ran a competition in the month preceding for the kids to write a magic spell and the winner said their spell to open the first box of books at 9:01am (in Sydney). They then got the first copy as their prize. It was really sweet.

I love events and expecially books like these that have brought so many kids to reading. My brothers practically inhale books after reading these.

I keep forgetting that the US doesn’t have the same dustjacket covers or even the same size books as Aus and the UK. Our version looks a lot different and is printed in a smaller hardback format.

Lily looks SOOO much like her father, Michael Sheen! Only her hair is a little lighter. She has that same mischievious twinkle in her eye, too! ♥
