Kerry Katona and 5 month old daughter held at knife point during robbery

Just before midnight last evening, British singer Kerry Katona, 26, and her youngest daughter, Heidi Elizabeth, 5 months this week, were held at knife point by masked intruders while husband Mark Croft was taken through the house to point out valuables.

The couple was watching a movie with their sleeping daughter when three masked men armed with a sledgehammer, crowbar, and a large kitchen knife broke into their home. Taking Kerry into the basement of the property, one burglar remained with them, holding a knife to Kerry’s throat, while the other two led Mark through the home, making off with a BMW, two laptop computers, jewelry, and much more, totaling £150,000. When they were done, the intruders locked Mark into the room with Kerry and Heidi, and placed a table against the door. The couple managed to escape around 12:30 am. A police spokesman said,

Kerry is absolutely distraught. One of them was holding aknife to Kerry’s throat. She was hanging on to Heidi while the othertwo were running around the house picking up all the valuables theycould find. She could hardly speak and was sobbing hysterically down thephone as she told me about it. They didn’t harm her or the baby but ithas been a horrible experience for her. They were very threatening and made clear what would happen to them if they didn’t do what they wanted.

Everything was going well for Kerry until this happened. Shehas only been in the house a few months, she is newly married and thebaby has come along but now this. She is saying she can’t go back into the house. It was terrifying for her.

Kerry’s older daughters, Molly Marie, 5 1/2, and Lilly-Sue, 4 1/2, were at their dad Bryan McFadden‘s for the weekend.

OMG how terrible!!!! That is just crazy! The poor woman and her family! Thank goodness the other girls were not there. My heart goes out to them.

OMG!!!

That poor family! I would be traumatized. Than God they are okay. I hope those creeps who robbed them get caught and have to pay for their vile crime!!

How could you do that to a mother holding an infant?!?!?

Can you tell I’m upset???

I have no idea who this is, but thank goodness they’re alright. It could have been so much worse.

what a horrible experience! thankfully they were not harmed. i hope that whomever did that gets caught!

Its funny how I am reading this first in an american blog. It certainly hasent popped up on my english version of MSN which is my home page!!!!
I am going to say what a lot of people are thinking. Drugs! I bet my last tooth that it was more to do with drugs than anything else. Otherwise, why target her. She is living in an afluent area and yet no one else has had this problem. I dont know how much of her story is known in america but it is wildly publishized here about her drug usage. All throughout her pregancy, right up to the night before her baby was prematurly born. Dont feel that sorry for her. Unfortunatly, she has brought much of this on herself. All I can say is thank god the poor baby wasnt harmed.

Sarah’s note: The Sun article says that the neighborhood has had a rash of crime lately — Kerry’s next-door neighbor’s car was stolen as well — The Daily Mail says Kerry is known to leave her doors unlocked and windows open so even though she does have a security system, it seems like it wasn’t on.

How terrifying!! But it could’ve been so much worse. Thank goodness they all got through it alive.

That is truly terrifying to read about. I can’t imagine what she was thinking when two of them took her husband upstairs while she was kept in the basement, she probably thought they were going to kill him. It really almost made me nauseous while reading this and thinking about how scary that was for them. I really believe a higher power was watching over and protecting them that night. I don’t blame Kerry for not feeling comfortable to go back to the house, her family’s sense of security is shattered.

- Jessica on

Madge, you think she brought this upon herself? Are you kidding?

All I have to say is thank God no one was physically harmed. I feel terrible for Kerry and her husband, but at least they will be able to get through this. And at least her other daughters were not there, which would have been extremely trautmatizing for them.

Madge 78 – it’s interesting you should say this because I was JUST in England and there were several gossip magazines on the stand there with drug stories about these two and how people were swearing they would “get revenge” on them.

I have no idea what for (I’m not really up on who these people are other than the magazines I just read), but I was thinking those threats were pretty scary! Again, only know what I read, but the magazines alleged that the guy was once a big time drug dealer and supplier to his wife (how they met, according to the article) and so I guess this crime could be related to this.

Either way, it’s a good thing those kids weren’t harmed, it must have been absolutely frightening for them! If all of those drug stories really are true, I really hope Kerry’s ex-husband files for custody of his kids to keep them safe.

What an awful thing to happen to her and her family, especially the part where they held her at knife point while she had her young baby with her? Terrible! And I don’t blame her for not being able to go back into the house. I don’t know if I’d be able to myself.

- FC on

i’m just glad that Molly and Lilly-Sue weren’t there, as it would have been absolutely terrifying. Luckily Heidi won’t have any memory of it.

- clair on

That’s horrible. I’m surprised that their house wasn’t wired for security.

- terri on

I’m not following the previous comments regarding drugs…have these two had drug problems in the past?

- robin m. on

Oh my GOODNESS! This is SO sad! I cannot imagine the horror their family must have felt during that experience… I’m just glad they are all safe!

It makes me SO sick to my stomach when dumb people decide that instead of going out and trying to earn thing for themselves, they go and try to take things other people worked hard for! What gives them the right to even think they deserve nice things if this is the method with which the accomplish retrieving them?!

I hope they catch the people involved and put them away for a LOOOOOOONG time!

- Tracy on

… and one more thing; if this WAS drug related, perhaps this will be the wake-up call they both need. It’s such a horrible thing to happen, but unfortunately there are always consequences to bad choices.

No one deserves this though…..

- Tracy on

robin, I don’t know about Mark, but it is well known that Kerry, in addition to being a chronic smoker who continued to smoke throughout her pregnancies with all three of her daughters, went on a cocaine and alcohol binge following her split from Bryan McFadden, to the point where she had to enter rehab. I hate to say it, but I think Madge may be on to something. Kerry got her drugs from somewhere, and it makes no sense why robbers would choose her home over any other in their affluent neighborhood. And terri, although they did have security in the home, Kerry used to leave the windows open and the doors unlocked all the time, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the robbers, knowing this, just walked in the house.

Regardless of whether this has to do with Kerry’s and possibly Mark’s drug abuse, that is absolutely horrible. I can’t imagine how terrifying that must have been, and the only thing that would have made it worse would be if Molly and Lilly-Sue were home as well. That’s the sort of thing that could have scarred them for life. I did find it interesting that Kerry claims Bryan never wants to see his kids and only uses them for his image, yet they were spending their weekend with him instead of with her as the victims of a robbery. Maybe this will cause Kerry to stop trashing her childrens’ father and grow up.

- Lauren on

i agree with everything that the others are saying on here about drugs! it was my first thought when i read it in the papers and i’m so glad that Brian has filed for custody of his two girls cause they’d be so much better with him, i believe this after reading an interview with her drug dealer (not a reliable source but kerry didn’t even deny the things he said).

She needs to wise up and stop bashing Brian and everyone else around her and sort out her own life
