Update: Rumor: Britney visited by child services, leaves homes due to unsafe pools

Update:TMZ reports that yes, while CPS was called, no one ever came out to the house because the reports were unsubstantiated. TMZ says,

Sources say Britney has a ‘stalker’ who has become irritated with her.The man began calling the L.A. County Department of Child and FamilyServices and lodging ‘bizarre’ complaints against Spears. We’re told someone from the Department made contact with one of Britney’s reps, but it became obvious during the call that the complaints were bogus — and the matter was dropped.

Contrary to several news reports, the Department did not dispatch anyone to Britney’s home.

Originally posted July 11th: X17 online is reporting that Britney Spears has taken her two sons, 22-month-old Sean Preston and  and 10-month-old Jayden James and moved into a suite at the Beverly Hills Four Season’s hotel, due to multiple visits from Child Protection Services.  CPS is reportedly investigating the safety of the pop star’s swimming pools at her mansions in Bel Air and Malibu.

Sources say Britney has been told by officials that without the proper required child safety barriers that her pools at both homes are unsafe for her young sons. CPS was said to have visited her Bel Air home three times last week, causing Britney to take her boys to stay at her Malibu mansion, before eventually checking into the hotel. X17 did further research of the matter and found that Britney does currently have a safety gate around the pool at her Bel Air mansion, but not yet at her Malibu mansion.

If proven true, this would not be Britney’s first run-in with Child Protective Services.  The popstar made headlines in February of last year when her oldest son Sean Preston was photographed riding in a vehicle unrestrained on her lap and again later when he fell from his high chair under a nanny’s supervision.

The child services should go first at Kevin’s home. There are pics with the kids near the pool from his home and there are no barriers. And about the pool from the Malibu home it was designed by Kevin. Why didn’t he thought about safety barriers, especially that his other kids were visiting that house before he and Britney divorced.

I am not going to defend any of Britney’s actions but just want to say that I think she is over analysed and critised. I wonder if this would be news if it was a different celeb who didn’t have their pool fenced. I personally think not.

I wonder if this is true did Kevin’s lawyer suggest the visit as another ploy in the divorce. The last pics I saw of his house the SP was walking around the pool & there was no gate in sight.

Again if true I still think it’s strange that they would need to visit 3 times to investigate the pool w/o an incident involving the babies w/ the pool. How long does it take to see if a gate is there or not? Or maybe X17 is off the mark again, like w/ there “confirmed” restraining order story.

I haven’t see pics of the kids w/ either parent in so long or so it seems. Or are they outthere & CCB just didn’t post them?

There have been two sets: one of Britney and the boys at church, which we didn’t post because Sean was crying and Britney was obviously angry, and a set of photos of she and the kids in the backyard, which we did post but took down becayse they were taken on private property.

Kevin has custody so why would Britney take them to a hotel? Not unless that’s just during her visitation hours.

With the amount the houses in those areas cost I would have thought they could install safety barriers!

The fact that she took the boys to stay at a hotel as a result of the visit from CPS says a lot. While I agree that the girl’s a trainwreck most of the time, I do think she has the best interests of her sons at heart.

How many pools don’t have gates? I would say more don’t then do. I am a teacher and you can’t imagine how many times you have a call CPS and how horrible things have to be in the home before CPS gets involved in cases so a pool?? Poor girl just leave her alone and help some children really in need.

I agree that CPS is probably only involved all the time because of the divorce, but to an extent I’m a little annoyed with Britney’s irresponsability. I’m a first time mother a few years younger than her, and I know never to drive without a the child in their safety seat, or how diligant one must be about pool safety. My friend even has a girl in her ashram who is brain damaged because of falling in a pool when she was about 3. I just don’t understand how she doesn’t know these things and why she’s not as diligent.

Margaux I agree about the saftey seat, but there is a link to a pic in the post were it shows a full fence around her pool. So maybe this is just a rumor?

X17 claims a former employee & neighbor has been calling on her.

Kevin doesn’t have custody. They share the boys.

Why can’t people just leave her alone? I think no parent is ever a PERFECT parent. Yes, I know she has made mistakes but come on people, haven’t we all. If CPS is going to go to every house that doesn’t have a gate around a pool then they will never have anytime for the houses with parents that are beating or neglecting their kids. If you had the chance to look at the pictures that were posted earlier you would have noticed that Britney AND her bodyguard/manny were with both of the kids so it wasn’t like Britney was out there swimming alone with two babies. Just because you see a picture of Sean by the pool doesn’t mean that Britney or someone wasn’t standing right there. We should all know by now that the media isn’t always a celebrity’s best friend.

I agree with Margaux, and anyone is free to call me a “pathetic Britney basher” as you please. Brit is without a clue.

It isn’t nitpicky to assume a parent should have a kid in a carseat, for goodness sake, and that is one big issue I have with her. Not only did she do it and escape charges, but when Matt Lauer confronted her about it, she shrugged and said, “We’re kuntry.”

I guess it’s okay to be country when you conveniently misuse car seats or just don’t use them at all, or don’t use pool safety, but suddenly you aren’t country anymore in your Hollywood mansion or at your award shows, with your big bodyguards, and with assistants who get you your coffee in the morning.

So what is it, Brit, country or not? I hope your boys don’t pay the ultimate price for your bratty and clueless behavior.

I don’t necessarily think that she should be “left alone and just let her be a mother”. I think that as a community we must look out for one another. Is the spotlight on her? You bet. But, God forbid if something horrible happened to one of those little boys the screams and critiscizs would be unbelievable. If it keeps her honest, then so be it. She is a mother that unforutnately is like the rest of us and made some rather serious and public mistakes. She has earned big brother looking over her shoulder. I think Britney loves those boys something fierce. To me that is not in question. Could Kevin and CPS be hovering? Sure. But I must say that if she is being a safe and responible mom( and I think she really does try to do her best!) then there is nothing to fear. Also, unfortunately there was a story on the news just recently about a 6 yr. old girl who was sitting on an unfastened drain in a kiddie pool. Anyone see that on the news? Part of her small intestines was sucked out of her little rectum. Sweet Lord. Point is, Are many pools unsafe, sure, but if the worst can be prevented then she can handle this heat. The alternative is unthinkable.

No, no one is a perfect parent, but most parents don’t do some of the incredibly stupid things she’s done over the last couple of years. I realize I may be labeled a “pathetic Britney basher”, but until she has proven herself to be stable and fit as a parent, she should be scrutinized. A lot of people will say, “Oh, she has it so hard with her divorce and paparazzi and all,” but there are plenty of people in and out of the public eye who are under incredible stresses that choose to act in the best interests of their children rather than their own self-indulgence.

I actually hope she does prove everyone wrong over the next couple of years. Then she can explain to her boys that those things she did are truly in her past and she is a good mom and they are the most important people in her life, and she proves it by the way she lives her life.

Yes they share custody. Despite all rumors Britney has never lost custody of the kids. She always before maintained custody and went into rehab and Kevin watched them. Now they share, but are obviously still working out the details. Kevin is often time out of state because he is paid to go to clubs and other events.

Though seriously, I think it was probably an inside job to further discredit her. I would also take it with a grain of salt considering X17 is usually never totally correct. I haven’t heard anything from TMZ, who are far more reliable. The thing is that broth Britney and Kevin lived in that house forever without anything near the pool. With the babies. Obviously both are probably walking now, but I honestly think it just be hard to live like she does.

Ugh. This is disgusting.

When I think of all the publicized cases of murdered, abused children where all the warning signs were there–but CPS wasn’t called, or didn’t do enough, or was overworked and couldn’t take action, this seems like an utter waste of time.

There are homes where Child Protective Services are badly, badly needed, and yet (if this story is true) they’re not helping children in REAL need because of Britney Spears and a pool gate?

I’m not a huge Britney supporter by any means, but this is outrageous.

I personally don’t know what to believe anymore. I don’t think that Kevin has a single thing to gain by calling CPS on Britney and I seriously doubt that he did, however has anyone been seeing the reports late, Britney is truly out of control. I don’t blame him for not signing those papers when obviously she doesn’t care enough about her sons to get her life in order (going out and drinking enough to be ill in bars. Drinking in a hotel bar leaving her sons with her sister and cousin or whoever it was… just disgusting)

And everyone acts like it’s all ‘poor Britney’ people just need to leave her alone. She doesn’t want to be left alone. The note on her site about the pap incident with the umbrella, having cameras follow her to drop off that letter to her mother and waving and smiling at them as she left her broken hearted sitting there… it’s pretty obvious she wants this negative publicity or she wouldn’t do that type of thing. She’s clearly an attention seeker.

Today as I looked at the pictures of some of the other celebrity moms on this site, I tried to remember how many of them had been photographed in compromising and embarassing situations lately, and non of the others seemed to be in the trouble she’s been in. I agree with you that she’s seeking the attention, because, unfortunately, being worshipped by her little ones probably isn’t enough for her.

Jules, you’re right… There are no other celeb moms on the site who have been caught doing anything as negligent as driving with a baby on their lap. But as far as I know, the high chair incident was an accident. Things like that do happen to first time parents.

I remember when my twins were about 7 months old….my son was able to stand, but my daughter wasn’t. I had to change the sheet in my son’s crib, so I plopped him into his sister’s crib with her for like 30 seconds while I put the sheet on the mattress. Lo and behold, he stood up, and went out head first onto the floor. It all happened so fast and I remember (even though he was ok!), I was shaking for quite a while after that. It was a stupid mistake on my part and I felt terrible, but if it had been all over the internet and in the magazines, I would have been all the more devastated.

I’m not a Britney fan and I don’t agree with her lifestyle of partying. My party days ended a long time before I even had kids and quite honestly, I don’t think I have the stamina anymore for that! I do feel sorry for Britney, though, because she’s young and inexperienced. She’s made some stupid decisions, but now she is being nit-picked for every little thing.

There have certainly been other parents, both moms and dads, who are covered here, who have made mistakes as bad, if not worse than Britney.

Courtney Love: regularly doped up on heroin and God knows what else.
Kate Moss: See above.
Michael Jackson: dangles baby out window.
Steve Irwin: remember, the baby is in your left arm, the crocodile food is in your right. Toss what’s in your RIGHT hand to the croc.
Ryan Phillippe: took Deacon out on a bike with no helmet.

Britney’s certainly made mistakes, and she does need to get her life back on track. However, if it’s anyone else, they don’t get anything near what she gets.

Naughty Cal, I see your point to a certain extent, but I look at it this way;

The Michael Jackson, Steve Irwin and Ryan P. incidents, along with the Britney incidents involving the carseat were all very dangerous. Thankfully none of the children were injured and they were things that need to be changed pronto and never happen again, but as far as we know, one time occurances.

I put those in a whole other league when compared to the Courtney Love, Kate Moss and Britney Spears drug and alcohol messes.

It’s the difference between a stupid mistake and repeated intentional negligence. Britney goes out repeatedly and gets publically intoxicated to the point of vomiting all over bars, she leaves her sons in a hotel room with her underaged sister and cousin while she’s doing all of this, she publically parades herself around in a disgusting manner and it’s unacceptable. I will feel sorry for her children in the future when these are the photos and images of their mother they will see.

Rachel k what does all that or being an attention seeker have to due w/ the CPS unjustly bothering her about not having a pool gate when she does? She can’t stop the paps from following her around. I’ve seen some pics of other moms on this site smiling & waving at the paps, I guess they were attention seeking too.

Since when is it a crime to have your kids babysat by a 16 year old & an adult while you go out? You act as though she left them alone or JamieLynn is an 8 or 9 year old. If Kevin was truly so worried then why do the kids spend so much time w/ Britney since the divorce? I think he’s only stalling to try & get as much money as possible.

Not all one time occurances. M. Jackson was charged w/ child molestation twice. It seem everyone has forgotten what Kate Moss did.

Then stuff you’re talking about isn’t repeated intentional negligence. The way you dress or going out at night while your kids are well cared for doesn’t make you a neligent parent. But I still think she’s not at peace & total emotionally stable & won’t be until she resolves things w/ her mother.

Rachel K I would for one stop believing everything you read. She leaves her kids with her underage sister while she goes and throws up and gets drunk in public? Really? When did all of this happen? There is one picture from over 6 months ago that could possible have been her throwing up. Horrible and trashy? Yes. She does it daily and repeats it? No. Britney can’t both be a media whore and have the sudden ability to hide all this wild and craze partying tabloids have reported. You don’t think if this was going on, someone would have gotten a picture of it? Stop and go actually see what the woman is doing today and not what she was rumored to be doing months ago.

Since, I am a fan I do see pictures of her when they come out. In the past month she’s gone out to about two clubs for a few hours and to dinner a few times. She obviously doesn’t give off the best image, but image doesn’t make you a bad or good mother. Another thing, she isn’t really speaking to her family and for another her sister lives out of state. Obviously the girl has some issues she has to work out, but other then the car seat issue when Sean was a baby she has never shown any gross negligence towards her kids. Going out too much, well you’d be amazed at the parents who do it even if it’s wrong.

Question… do you feel sorry for Angelina Jolie’s kids? Pamela Andersons? Both are considered to be pretty damn good mothers and both have things in their past. Their kids will be fine, as will Britney’s.

Regardless having a stalker call CPS on her basically makes her and her children the victim. She did nothing wrong in this case.

Ann? There is a difference between being a fan and a fanatic. You mentioning Angelina Jolie and Pam Anderson in comparison to Britneys mothering skills is baffling, because there has never been one time I have seen Pam or Ang do anything that Britney has done since having children. Im a lifelong Elton John fan but I am very critical of him when he does stupid things. When he goes off on the press like he has done in the past I get concerned but I dont deny it happened. The best thing you can do as a fan is admit shes been doing alarming things lately and VOICE disapproval so she HEARS that disapproval and gets help. Britney has enough YES MEN in her life, she needs reality!

I saw online that there is a photo of Britney either holding Jayden or maybe someone had him but she was letthing him hold her cigarettes. Not sure if there is any truth to this but where can I find it if it is true?

I have to agree with Rachel K. Since was everyone else so perfect? People these days need any excuse to crucify or persecute you basically for being human and making mistakes or bad choices. Read your Bible! You have to make bad choices/mistakes in order to learn and discover who you are exactly. It’s a part of spiritual maturation. The only difference with Brit – is that she is Famous so everything she says and does gets publicized. I should know being somewhat famous myself, I get harassed all the time. I don’t want the attention – people stare at me, criticize what I say, follow/stalk me everywhere I go…and then people like you say “oh she wants the attention”…all I am trying to do is BE myself. People won’t let me…it’s like harassing Jesus and saying “well if you are the Son of God, then why aren’t you dressed in fancy robes”…he never wanted to be put on a pedestal…he wanted us to listen to his message but we didn’t…we wanted him to be something more than what he was – anything BUT himself. The same is true of celebrities (because they are God-like and iconic). Also because she’s a woman, she gets treated far more harshly. Men often act dumb but don’t get the same harassment…look at Janet…Justin is on cloud number 9 and didn’t have to take any of the responsibility in the boob fiasco. Kevin is clearly selfish and needs to emotionally mature…he ain’t so great either but no one is nit-picking at him. Just ask yourself: how would you feel if everyone nit-picked at you? It’s like Harry Potter…he didn’t want attention…but greatness was thrust on him…sorry but God has chosen a certain few to be his “special” children – people through which, he can exercise the power of His glory and believe it or not…the fact that Britney can be a sinner and repent will make her all the more a saint…she will win in the end. Wow! I could make analogies all night long! Give her some peace and give back her humanity. She doesn’t need help in the sense of being crazy, she just needs time to figure out where she is headed in life…some of us take a very long time to “get” there. I know I did. Give her time to grow at her own pace…let her be…EVERYONE has made mistakes…so what if she is young and inexperienced…it just proves adults should pass down their wisdom (if y’all gots any!) to the young and aid them in not making the wrong choices…share your knowledge with others…don’t HOARD it! But then again, it proves another point, most adults don’t ever really mature and so have no real wisdom to pass down…let’s just blame her parents why don’t we? What’s my point: let her be.
