Anthony Bourdain sees life through a 'pink tinted prism' as dad to a baby girl

While blogging about his surprise at enjoying the reality show Next Food Network Star, celebrity chef and novelist Anthony Bourdain mused that maybe his judgment has been skewed by life with his new daughter, Ariane, born April 9. 

Is it because I watch Next Food Network Star with a three-month-old girl on my lap that I find it increasingly compelling?  Is it because I’m looking through a pink tinted prism these days that I’m finding Bob Tuschman [a judge on the show] sympathetic?

Whether it’s the butterfly mobiles dangling from my ceiling — the onset of early dementia, or long delayed side effects from past drug use drawing me to the tube Sunday nights, I’ll be watching.

Ariane is Anthony’s first child with wife Ottavia.

There is always something about a celebrity having a baby that makes them seem more human and more endearing. Or… in the case of Britney Spears more repugnant and irresponsible. We just saw Anthony Bourdain and his wife in Italy last week! It was so exciting for us, because we’re big fans. No sign of the baby though, but I’ll bet she was busy being spoiled by his wife’s Italian family.

I can totally imagine Bourdain as a daddy. He was so tough and rough for so long, but you could always tell that he was a softy underneath. Bet he’s a really great daddy.

So the lovable smartass has a soft spot. I guess children can change you more then you know. So sweet. I bet see is a cutie just like her papa.
