Update: Jillian Barberie Reynolds welcomes a daughter; shares birth story
Update: Jillian, who once famously said that she never wanted kids, also called in to Good Day LA to admit defeat to co-host Dorothy, who told her that having kids would change her life. She said,
Dorothy…you were right. I kinda like her. I keep crying, I can’t even talk. It’s awesome. She’s in my arms right now. I have to tell you, Thursday night, I said, ‘I am so over this pregnancy.’ Take me to that restaurant…with the labor-inducing [dish].
Sure enough, at 4 am on Friday morning, I go into labor. I woke Grant up and I said, ‘I think this is it.’ I went through the pain, sat at home for five hours. By the time I got to the hospital, they were like, ‘Sweet.’ They rolled me in…and I was done with four pushes. [laughs] It was the easiest thing. I can’t believe how…It was the opposite of what I was anticipating.
Dorothy was so right about how they put the baby in your arms and you just cry, and that was that. It was the best experience of my life. I was doubling over in pain and I didn’t even care. It was so awesome. The epidural kicked in, I pushed four times, and I had her.
She came early though, she was due 07/07/07. She wanted to upstage the [Eva] Longoria wedding. She is so perfect. She has long eyelashes and blue eyes and brown hair…I have no idea how she didn’t get my blonde ‘natural’ color. [laughs]
It’s ridiculous. We’re obsessed, and I changed my first diaper ever. It’s going really, really well. And I’m breastfeeding, and nobody tells you…you get her and there’s no manual, you don’t know what the hell you’re doing. I’m just learning as I go along. Everything makes me nervous, but Grant’s so earth-daddy, he’s like, ‘Everything is all good.’ We have our first doctor’s visit today. We’re so in love.
I was actually nursing on the phone until about five seconds ago. Those boobs finally being put to good use! Now how am I going to lose this baby weight?!
Update 5:45: Jillian tells People,
We are overjoyed, ecstatic and so in love.
Originally posted 10 am: Grant and Jillian Barberie Reynolds, 40, welcomed their first child at 5 pm on Friday, July 6th. Daughter Ruby Raven arrived one day before her due date, weighing in at 6 lbs, 12 oz, and is 19 inches long. The family is doing well. The Good Day LA co-host had previously said they were deciding between three ‘R’ names for their daughter — and they used two out of the three!
