Il Cocco di Mamma: A site for the apple of your eye
As a bilingual parent, I was inspired by the story behind Il Cocco di Mamma, a site featuring classic baby tees and gifts with bilingual messages.
Featuring common sayings from around the world, including Ciao!, Qué pasa? and C’est la vie!, the site was inspired by the owner’s experience growing up in Boston with immigrant parents and spending her summers in Italy. Plug in “New York” for “
The site also features many popular children’s books and music in other languages (Huevos Verdes Con Jamón anyone?), as well as shoes and foreign language wooden blocks (including the Greek, Russian, Hebrew and other alphabets).
Il Cocco di Mamma, by the way, literally translated means “mama’s boy,” but the Italian term of endearment is translated as “the apple of my eye” and is used for both girls and boys.
The company offers free gift wrap in its signature paper with every purchase. Check out the complete selection at www.ilcoccodimamma.com.
