Update: Dave Matthews welcomes a son

Update: Son August Oliver arrived on Tuesday, June 19th at the Matthews family home in Washington. The entire family is doing well.

Originally posted June 21st: Dave Matthews, 40, and his wife Ashley recently welcomed their third child! We hear alternating reports on whether it’s a boy or girl (seems to be a boy), but the new baby joins fraternal twin sisters Grace Anne and Stella Busina,5 1/2.

Dave and Ashley had kept the sex a surprise until the delivery, with Dave telling Rolling Stone,

We’ll keep the magic of our eyes being the witness.

Woo-Hoo! I’d be happy for them if, in fact, their new baby is a boy! I’d be happy either way…
We’ll be seeing Dave and his band on tour in Gainesville and West Palm Beach (we’re in Orlando) in September! Maybe he’ll pull a Gwen and flash the new baby’s face on the big screen!

I’m happy for the family! I actually saw them out to lunch recently, and it completely changed my (previously closed-minded) opinion of Dave. I witnessed him being warm, unpretentious, and involved with his kids.

I wonder if it’s pronounced Aw-Gist or Oh-Goost. I’ll have to ask the next time I see them.
