Mamie Gummer tired of being asked about mom

In making the rounds to promote her new film Evening – opening today — actress Mamie Gummer has had to field her fair share of questions about what its like to grow up with acting icon Meryl Streep as a mom.  Mamie, who has spoken before of feeling the need to ‘differentiate‘ herself from Meryl, apparently reached her limit recently when the 23-year-old was overheard complaining to a friend:

They asked me how my mother does dishes!

Meryl also makes an appearance in Evening.  Together with husband Don Gummer, Meryl has three other children:  Henry, 27, Grace, 21 and Louisa, 16.

Oh well there are worse things in life than to be asked about your famous actress mom lol. I never even heard of her or knew she was an actress.

Who is the photo of, Meryl or her daughter? The woman in the picture looks like Meryl exactly, but also looks younger than Meryl is. If it is her daughter, bless her, but she will never be able to outgrow her mother’s shadow, because she is an exact replica.

Daze – it is meryl’s daughter. I hear ya about Mamie being meryl’s exact replica and she’ll always be in mom’s shadow. What’s more, meryl will be playing the older version of mamie’s character in the movie.

I think she’s going to have quite a bit of difficulty breaking the mold of being Meryl Streep’s daughter. For a while most people just saw Angelina Jolie as Jon Voight’s daughter. Which makes me think that if any of the Jolie-Pitt kids want to become actors in the future, they’re going to have quite a hard time making names for themselves. Especially since the world is basically watching them grow up.

Mamie is Meryl’s “Mini-Me”

Mamie is well…Mamie. Not a “Meryl mini-me”
Although the nose is a genetic strong point!
I do not think that Mamie is “an exact replica” of her mother (bit of a tall order all round when the other 50% of her genes are from Don!!!!)
How about we let her be – to act, as she feels fit and not pre-suppose things about her or her individual abilities.
