Skylar Fisher-Duddy watches mom hit the bottle

Intouch1_cbbAfter a long day, ‘Til Death star Joely Fisher likes to kick back with a glass of wine – a habit her oldest daughter with husband Christopher Duddy, Skylar Grace, 6, noticed.

One of her first phrases was ‘mommy juice,’ and it was a big glass of wine. Later, she’d say, ‘You drink that at five o’clock every day.’

Joely and Chris are also parents to True Harlow, nearly 17 months.

Yuck! If your child is pointing out your alcohol consumption, it’s time to break the habit.

Skylar Grace and True Harlow are beautiful names, but I can’t help but feel for the girls when they enter the playground and introduce themselves as ‘Skylar/Grace Fisher-Duddy’, I mean it’s just asking to be made fun of! As the owner of two unusual names myself, I speak from experience! I couldn’t give my children ‘unusual’ names with a clear conscience, knowing what it could be putting them through in later life, especially if I knew they’d also have a double-barrelled surname.

My daughter does the same thing with soda and my husband. Whenever she sees a can of Pepsi she says “That’s daddy’s juice!”. It’s harmless, kids say things like that all the time and many adults kick back with a glass of wine at the end of the day. It’s no different than if someone kicks back with a cup of coffee, a beer, or in my case, a cup of hot tea every night. To each his own. Just because she has one glass of wine does not make her and her husband alcoholics.
