The Irwins expand Australia Zoo to include whale watching

Terri Irwin, the wife of late Australian ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin, and her children, Bindi Sue, 8, and Bob, 3 1/2, were photographed in Mooloolaba on Saturday for the launch Australia Zoo’s whale watching. The family launched a boat yesterday, in the name of Steve — Steve’s Whale One is the boat to be used for daily whale watching expeditions off the coast of Queensland. A zoo representative said it was a wonderful chance for Bindi and Bob to mingle with the children among the 150 guests;

They had a great day with all the other kids.

Very cute family!

However, I think I have read that Terry calls her son “Robert” and not “Bob”. Obviously Bob is short for Robert, but I am sure that Terry has made a point of mentioning in previous interviews that she calls him Robert.

Shannon’s note: I did notice that in some interviews Terri does call him Bob but — Steve seemed to always refer to him as “Bob” or “baby Bob” and that it what the news articles always refer to him as.

Bindi is starting to look more like her mother, although there are still times I look at her and see her dad in her. And I think Bob stole his dad’s smile.

But since you wrote Bindi’s full name(who, however doesn’t have nickname as far as I know), maybe you should write her brother’s one too, that is Robert Clarence, and everybody can decide how to call him.(Possible forms also include “Bob Bob” that I’ve read on their official website)

Aw, what a lovely picture of the Irwin family! Bindi and Robert are definitely looking like their father! The family seem to be moving forward well, and continue to remember Steve in good ways!

It’s so great to see that they are continuing on with Steve’s (and Terri’s) dream! It is so necessary to remind people of the other creatures inhabiting this planet and how great they are!

Steve sent out an amazing message (even though snakes still totally creep me out) and it’s just so wonderful to see his family happy (or at least trying to be, given the circumstances)…

These kids are soooooo precious!! I look at Bindi and I see Steve. The way she looks, smiles, speaks, motions, everything. Same tone, same passion, same energy. I see a bit of resemblance between her and Terri in this picture, but I’ll always think Steve when I look at her. And little Bob looks just like his daddy. I can’t wait till he grows up!

Maybe Terri calls him Robert to honor Steve (Robert is Steve’s middle name), and Steve called him Bob because that is what Steve’s dad goes by and who Bob was named after. They are such a beautiful family and it is still so bittersweet to see them without Steve. Bindi looks so much like Steve, and wow, Bob/Robert really got his smile. They are so cute in this picture!
