Jett Travolta to possibly join family in movie

All four of the Travoltas may be hitting the big screen now. John, Kelly Preston and Ella Bleu, 7, will be filming the comedy Old Dogs with Robin Williams this summer and while Jett, 15, has no interest in show business, John says he might not be able to resist casting him in a small part.

He’s so good-looking, maybe we’ll put him in a scene to make it a real family event.

Sorry, but this is ridiculous… not because the kid can not participate or anything.. But mainly because he doing this just because he probably knows how he is acting is causing controversy..

- Mary on

That’s exactly what I was thinking Mary. It’s blatantly a PR exercise in the wake of all the revelations and controversy surrounding both scientology and Jett. I would be extremely surprised if we ever see Jett in a film with either his parents or his sister. I’m openminded when it comes to what has been said about Jett, but even I will admit I find it all a little….iffy. I hope if Jett has any medical problems, that his mum and dad are able to see what is right for him. I wish all the best for the Travolta family.

- Lola on

Not to be blatantly cruel, but Jett’s not a good-looking kid.

- Nina on

Mary and Lola- Why would John lie about putting Jett in a scene or two in the movie?

- Annoynomus on

ya…i highly doubt we’ll see Jett in the movie. poor kid.

- Christine on

OMG this is ridiculous. Travolta sickens me more each time I read a quote from him.

Speaking of quotes–he recently went on an anti-psychiatry ramage and blamed all school shootings on psychotropic drugs and said guns have nothing to do with it…just 24 hrs before they came out with the toxicology report on the VA Tech shooter who had (drumroll) NO drugs in his system at all!

- PSB on

Seriously, I like John and Kelly, I have nothing negative to say, But who are they kidding, it looks like they are hiding something, and the whole world knows their secret. Just trying to cover up what happened about 2 weeks ago.
Anyways, too bad for Jett,I do hope that at least he is getting the help that he needs.
Good luck to them all..

Too little, too late…

- lulusass on

I used to really like John Travolta and his wife but not anymore. I’d wish they’d just be open about what is going on with Jet. They could help other parents by being open about it.

John needs to be more careful with what he says because he is sounding like Tom Cruise.

- Anne on

I never said he is lying about maybe thinking about put the kid in the movie. But is clear to me that more than any desire he has that his son gets involved in any project of his, is a way to prove that he “cares” about his kid, because of the recent reaction his ” is all about Ella” remarks..

- Mary on

I’m a Scientologist and proud of it. Scientology is not a cult. It is a religion! Scientology cured my learning disability and cured my gay-disease. Scientology taught me how to file lawsuits against my enemies, and made me taller. Do gays fly planes and ride motorcyles AND have girlfriends? NO! Of course not. I do all those things. I have a HARLEY! Not exactly gay, huh? Scientology costs a lot of money because the secrets of life are valuable, AND they are the legal property of Scientology. Do I mind that I’m in debt to Scientology? Of course not. Look at me. I’m taller even. I don’t mind the past-due notices they send me. I just keep paying late fees. Scientology is proud of me. I can read and I’m not gay and I’m taller. Psychiatrists are bad. They are nazis, worse even. I want to help clear the world. Thank you Scientology.

- GREG on

I totally agree, everything I’ve been hearing from him lately sounds like he’s pretending not to be hiding something…??? I know something’s gotta be weird, because I’ve only seen one photo of Jett, other than that recent one, and I’ve seen a whole bunch of Ella, and you’d think that they’d want to show off Jett as much as Ella. I just think it’s sad, and I feel bad that they feel they have to hide something (if they are). I also feel so bad for Jett, they keep saying “he’s so handsome,…talented…” then show him off!

- Lys on

The way Travolta says “put him in a scene”, sounds like he’s talking about a prop.

- Anonymous on

The way it’s worded is what bothers me. “He’s so good-looking, maybe we’ll put him in a scene…” If he was a normal 15-year-old, wouldn’t he be old enough to decide for himself whether or not this is something he wants to do? The way it sounds seems like they might parade him in for a cameo just to prove something. It would have rankled less if he’d said something like “Maybe we can convince him to make an appearance, then we can have the whole family in on it.” or something. The way he worded it, combined with what is known about his son, makes it seem uncomfortable to me.

- Elle on

I agree with everyone. It seems like a big PR stunt and John trying to save face. I really, really used to like John. A lot. But my opinion of him has been on a fast downward spiral over these past few months. He’s turned into a joke!

- Stephany on

To the anonymous person who asked what John had to gain from lying about Jett being in a movie – I thought that was clear already. It seems as though John is trying to correct some serious PR damage done because of the things he’s said, and the multiple stories that have emerged about Jett. Saying he’ll put Jett in a film is one of the only ways he can address what has been said about his son without actually having to acknowledge it.

What scares me most about this situation is not so much that John and Kelly are not getting treatment for Jett in the event of him being autistic, but the fact that they think they are doing the right thing. I have extensive experience with autism and I know what it means to parents with autistic children to hear celebrities be open with their own experiences. In the last few years, the public support has been invaluable. A friend of mine who has an eight-year-old autistic daughter used to have to say “She’s not naughty, she’s autistic” about a million times a day whenever she tried to take her girl out. She doesn’t have to do that so much anymore.

My heart goes out to Jett. I hope if he is autistic that his parents are either getting secret treatment for him, or they soon see the light. That poor young man deserves better.

- Lola on

PSB is right about there being no drugs in the VaTech shooter. What about the other “school shooters?” Did they have psychiatric drugs in their system?

Would anti-depressants have helped prevented those situations? We’ll never know and people like John shouldn’t be preaching to the choir. If John isn’t careful, he’ll be a clone of Tom Cruise like Anne suggested.

As for Jett being in a movie, I’ll believe it when I see it. I still think based on the pictures of Jett that he really does have some sort of disability like autism.

- Dawna on

Lola, you are absolutely right…I am a parent of an autistic child…a son…who is 16. It DOES help when celebrities are open and honest about things…it helps with the general publics acceptance. So that I don’t have to defend my son so much is he happens to have a meltdown in public. People who have never been through it or have never had to deal with autism just don’t get it and making it more “acceptable”…well, I am all for it!!!

Seems John is trying to cover his tracks for the most part! I used to be such a HUGE Travolta fan. No more!

- tink1217 on

It bothers me more and more how we see his youngest child a lot and hear about her a lot but we never hear or see anything about Jett except very obscure comments. It sounds odd.

- Christie on

What makes you think there is something “wrong” with his son? I’ve seen the recent pictures of him and granted the kid does need to lose some weight. How does anyone really know that he is autistic?

- Danielle on

Danielle, it has LONG been known that Travolta’s son has some kind of impairment. They claim it is Kawasaki’s Disease, I believe. From cleaning products used in their home years ago. Nobody is buying it and there have been many reports that his son is actually autistic. He repeatedly talks and mentions his daughter but hardly ever his son. There have been interviews where he gushes over his daughter and barely acknowledges he even has a son.

Of course…nobody knows anything for sure except the Travoltas, but I have even heard from people who live near them about their son and it is evident that it is something autistic like.

- tink1217 on

Danielle, there are countless confirmed reports from neighbors, reporters, even family members that Jett is autistic, but the Travoltas refuse to admit that he is in fact autistic because Scientology, the religion they practice, believes that people with autism are lesser beings and does not believe in the psychiatric intervention, therapies, etc. that are proven to be beneficial for autistic children. John’s own brother recently came out with a documentary on autism, and John and Kelly never showed up to support his work. And when people have questioned John about his son, he always gives extremely vague answers before literally either running away or changing the subject. It is obvious that he is getting frantic because the secret is out and he can’t hide Jett’s disorder anymore.
I can’t stand Tom Cruise anymore, but if there’s one nice thing I have to say about him, it’s the fact that he is clearly a devoted father who loves his children. What John and Kelly are doing is nothing short of child neglect. The jig is up, and it’s a little too late to start acting like inclusive parents.

- Lauren on

I wonder if it’s true that they are trying to have another baby. That seems odd to me. Of course, it’s no one’s business, but I just wonder why they are waiting until she’s 44 and he’s 53 to try to have another child. There’s already a huge age difference between Jett and Ella. Maybe it has something to do with Jett’s medical problems.

- Acinom#1 on

Lauren, unless you have personal knowledge of their family and life, I think you are being a bit out of line, accusing John and Kelly of child neglect.

I find it highly unlikely that they are “neglecting” the child. He may not be getting the medical care that many think he should be getting……then again, how do we know that??? They could very well be getting him some kind of treatment and not letting anyone know about it.

I have worked with many autistic children. They are not all totally hyperactive and unreachable.. Some are sensitive readers and loners, some like basketball. etc and so on.

They are not retarded. Many do not need very much medication at all since they are not prone to violent outbursts. Many will be able to function well in the world and many will not.

I am going to choose to feel that they are not neglecting or abusing this boy Jett.

Until we have met the child, and the family, and been into their world, I think it is best not to judge how they are taking care of their children.

I don’t know them and am not a scientologist, so I have no prejudice toward John and Kelly.

It is none of my business if they do not want to go public with their problems.

- Ayla on

I agree with Ayla – it is none of our business. One person said earlier that Jett is old enough to decide if he wants to be a movie, he is also old enough to decide if he wants people to know about his condition. They may be trying to protect Jett’s privacy, as he did not choose to be born to 2 celebrities. For all we know if he is autistic, he could react very badly to being in the spotlight.

- Elaine on

FYI to everyone who made a stink about this post about Jett, and the post about Ella starring in a film and Jett having no interest- BOTH quotes are from Parade Magazine. They were said in the same response, to the same question. The question was not about Ella or Jett but rather about continuing the family business.

- Colleen on

Thank you Colleen! I was just going to say the same thing! These quotes have been taken completely out of context. I’m not a huge Travolta fan…never really have been..but after reading the article last weekend i didn’t get the feeling that he was trying to hide anything in the interview. And perhaps Jett HAS decided that he doesn’t want to act….why do John or Kelly have to talk about him if he’s not interested in the business?? There are MANY celebrities who only talk about their kids that are in the business and many who don’t talk about their kids AT ALL or very rarely. Why is it our business how they choose to parent their children?

- d on

One of John Travolta’s family members has stated that Jett has yet to utter his first word! So, exactly how can he “decide” to tell anyone about his condition or if he wants to be in a movie??? Being in a movie (or not) is the least of Jett’s worries…he lives in a world all his own and doesn’t communicate and his parents won’t even acknowledge his condition, so he has had NO medical treatment because it would involve someone in the psychiatric/counseling/therapy community and they would NEVER agree to that because of Scientology. That breaks my heart. There have been very, very few public pictures of Jett since he was small, until recently, when the paps got shots of him walking on his tiptoes and pulling at his shirt (which can be symptoms of autism) and the Travoltas had no choice but to talk about their son. They are covering their tracks, bigtime, so they can preserve their careers and their reputations. There have been parents who have been arrested when they knowingly refused to get medical attention for their children, even if it was a decision based on their religious beliefs. Yes, that is abuse to neglect to get help for their son, but their celebrity status continues to protect them.

- PinkRoses on

I found this website link, has tons of photos of Jett with his family up to May of this year. Maybe he’s hit puberty and doesn’t want to be in the public eye. As for that other disease, that can be serious concerning the heart, which can explain why he doesn’t ‘fly’ often with the family. Finally there are photos of him looking like his dad, John, and then many looking like his Mom, Kelly. Ella Blue definitely takes after her Dad, thus possibly being favored more. We don’t know the entire family background. But from these photos, I came accross, Jett seems very much part of the family. If autistic, that’s their personal business, if Kawasaki Disease, then they have taken precautions with his health. John might be disappointed that his son is not a little kid anymore, like jumping for hugs, playtime, etc…like his daughter Ella. Have fun checking out baby Jett up to age 15 on that website:

My heart goes out to John and Kelly and Ella Blue on the death of Jett. Very sad.

- Mary Pat Lucia on

Shouldn’t Jett Travolta have the right to privacy? Maybe he has always wanted to avoid any attention to himself. I think some celebrity parents talk too much about their children. I believe the decision should be up to the child. Since none of you live in their home, how do you know if he is receiving therapy or treatment?

- Daisy on

If John Travolta and Kelly Preston had been getting medical treatment or special therapies for their son, there are several laws that prevent doctors and other service providers from commenting on that fact. So….how would we know? But more importantly, why is it OUR business?

- Ginny on

Just because Jett may have Autism or a dev disability John MUST come out with it? Can’t it be private for the family? Just because they are celebrities does it mean they have to make their son a poster child for whatever it is he may/may not have? IMO it is no one’s business and may poor Jett RIP. They have the right to decide for THEIR family. I am sorry if them not being out and open with their son’s alleged medical condition doesn’t make people feel better about their child’s issue. For the record I have a deveolpmentally disabled son who has intractctible epilepsy. I think under their circumstances they have every right to keep their child out of the public eye when the paparazzi would rip them to shreds!
