Olympic medalist Janet Evans showcases daughter Sydney's swimming skills

Promoting the LA84 Foundation’s 22nd annual Learn-To-Swim program at the John C. Argue Swim Stadium in Exposition Park in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 21 are four-time Olympic gold medalist Janet Evans and her daughter Sydney Willson. This marked the eight-month-old’s first public appearance as a swimmer but she has been swimming since she was five-months-old.

Janet and her husband, Billy Willson, have been married for three years.

Aw Sydney Willson, future Olympic hopeful! lol! How cute!

Hopefully Janet used a high spf on her baby, being out in the sun and all, but aw a swimming baby is awfully cute!

BTW what is the best age to teach kids to swim? Do some places still do those “Mommy & Me” swim classes where the moms have their babies “swim” underwater between their legs, etc.?

At our YMCA they begin swim lessons at 18 mos. My son swims well at 3. Sydney is adorable. So smiley and happy.

I first took my guy in at 21 days old and we’re in the water almost evey day…he’s 18 months now. Although we’re a little outta the norm (water wise) being an Olympic swimming family as well. He absolutely loves it.

Mommy and me is a great way to start and the key is to keep it consistent because they quickly forget! Swimming is a life saving skill that EVERYONE should have and tons of fun too!

We spent a few days at the pool this week and some of the kid’s from the club camp were there. I couldn’t believe how many couldn’t swim. I know if they learned they would absolutely LOVE it because swimming is so much fun!
